Mercedes Benz sells 3,193 cars in Q1 2021

Mercedes-Benz has announced that it sold 3,193 cars in the first quarter of this year with 34 percent growth over Q1 2020. It said that E-Class LWB was the highest-selling model in Q1 2021. And GLE was the best-selling SUV.

The company recorded a growth of 34% over Q1 2020, owing to strong sales in January and February 2021. Sales remained at pre-Covid levels during these months.

According to Mercedes, models like the A-Class Limousine, C-Class, E-Class, GLC, GLE and GLS witnessed very high demand. The E-Class LWB was the highest-selling model in its portfolio for Q1 2021, while the GLE was the best selling SUV during this period. Sedans accounted for 53% of the total sales followed by SUVs. 19% of all new cars sold in Q1 2021 were booked online.


Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, "Our Q1 2021 performance make us confident that this growth momentum can be continued in the coming months as well. With a solid order bank for most of our volume models extending into months, we are very confident of driving growth back in the coming months. We hence start Q2 with a positive outlook buoyed by the growing availability of our newly introduced models."
