More Retail Deploys 110 Montra EVIATORs; Electric Vehicles Now Form 25% of Mid-Mile Fleet
More Retail has expanded its electric logistics operations with 110 Montra Electric EVIATOR small commercial vehicles now deployed across its distribution network. The total includes 25 vehicles flagged off in Bengaluru on October 1, 2026, as the supermarket chain works towards fully electrifying its mid-mile fleet.
The retailer currently has 150 electric vehicles in a 600-vehicle mid-mile fleet, putting its electric share at 25%. Full electrification remains a target, with no completion timeline disclosed in the announcement.
Mid-mile logistics covers the movement of goods between distribution centres and retail outlets, supporting regular store replenishment.

EVIATOR deployment crosses 8.8 lakh kilometres
According to More Retail’s National Transport Manager, Prasanna Hegde, the deployed EVIATORs have collectively covered more than 8.8 lakh kilometres on the retailer’s routes.
The company cited reliability, driver comfort, instant torque and lower operating costs as factors supporting the transition from conventional vehicles. However, it did not disclose purchase costs, charging expenses or quantified savings per kilometre.
For a supermarket operator, vehicle availability directly affects store replenishment. The accumulated operating distance provides a useful indication of deployment scale, although detailed uptime and maintenance data would help assess performance more closely.
110 vehicles expected to cover at least 22,000 km daily
The announcement estimates that the 110 EVIATORs can collectively cover a minimum of 22,000 kilometres per day—equivalent to around 200 kilometres per vehicle.
It also projects avoided tailpipe CO₂ emissions of more than 1,750 tonnes annually.
This is a company estimate; the announcement does not provide the calculation methodology, assumed operating days or baseline fuel consumption.
The figure relates to tailpipe emissions and does not represent a full lifecycle assessment covering electricity generation, battery production and vehicle manufacturing.
Payload and load deck suited to retail distribution
The Montra Electric EVIATOR offers a 10.3-foot load deck and a payload capacity of up to 1,707 kg, according to the announcement. These specifications support the transport of retail crates, groceries and other supplies between warehouses and stores.
The vehicle also offers integrated fleet management functions, including battery-status monitoring, driver-behaviour analytics and route optimisation.
More Retail said drivers had responded positively to the vehicles’ comfort and everyday usability. Montra Electric positioned the partnership as an example of commercial EV adoption becoming part of routine logistics operations, with uptime, efficiency and operating economics central to fleet decisions.
Auto Punditz Take
More Retail’s deployment illustrates how electric small commercial vehicles are being integrated into everyday retail distribution. Predictable routes and recurring delivery schedules can help operators plan charging around daily requirements.
The milestone should nevertheless be read accurately: a quarter of More Retail’s mid-mile fleet is currently electric, while complete electrification is still ahead. The 110 EVIATORs account for approximately 73% of its current electric fleet, making Montra a substantial contributor to the transition.
The next measures to watch are the pace of further deployment, charging infrastructure expansion and demonstrated operating-cost savings as the electric fleet grows.
