Maruti Suzuki's third unit at Hansalpur, Gujarat facility begins manufacturing

Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, completed the construction of its third unit in the Hansalpur facility in Gujarat and also started production at the plant.

It rolled out its first vehicle - Maruti Dzire. This was announced by the company through a regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Till now, the subcompact sedan was being manufactured at its Manesar plant. Now the Sedan will be manufactured at SMG's Plant C in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad. All the automobiles manufactured in SMG's facility will be supplied to Maruti Suzuki.


Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) facility in Hansalpur total production capacity now stands at 7.5 lakh units. The Hansalpur facility was established in March 2014 to meet the requirements of the domestic and export markets. The first product produced was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and then the new generation Maruti Suzuki Sift hatchback, in January 2018.

Production began at the second production site, Plant B, in January 2019. The powertrain plant was set up to meet the internal and export demand. In October 2020, SMG achieved the distinction of being the fastest production site of SMG to achieve an accumulated automobile production of 1 million units. The new Plant C’s production capacity is 2.5 lakh units.


Adding Plant A and Plant B to it, the total capacity at Hansalpur now stands at 7.5 lakh units. With these capacities added, Suzuki’s Indian Automobile production capacity will be around 2.25 million units along with Maruti Suzuki’s production capacity of 1.5 million units. The Suzuki Dzire will be manufactured at its Hansalpur plant.
