Tata Motors Delivers Over 50,000 Vehicles During Navratri 2026; Over 10,000 on Dussehra Alone
Strong festive demand across Tata's passenger vehicle portfolio prompts the automaker to ramp up production and logistics ahead of Diwali.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has reported strong festive-season momentum, delivering more than 50,000 cars and SUVs during Navratri 2026, including over 10,000 vehicles on Dussehra alone.
The performance comes amid improved consumer sentiment, rising dealership footfalls and a healthy booking pipeline. The automaker has also increased production and strengthened its logistics operations to ensure better availability of popular models and variants ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali.
Strong Demand Across Tata's Multi-Powertrain Portfolio
Tata Motors attributed its festive performance to growing consumer interest across its range of passenger vehicles.
According to Amit Kamat, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, the company has witnessed encouraging showroom enquiries, customer bookings and deliveries.
Its portfolio spans petrol, diesel, CNG and electric offerings, allowing Tata Motors to cater to different customer requirements and budgets.
However, Tata Motors has not disclosed model-wise festive deliveries or individual powertrain contributions, making it difficult to identify which models drove the highest volumes during Navratri.
Production and Logistics Strengthened Ahead of Diwali
To support higher festive demand, Tata Motors has increased manufacturing activity and improved logistics coordination.
The company is focusing on ensuring that high-demand models and variants reach dealerships in time for deliveries during the remaining festive period.
Management has also highlighted a healthy booking pipeline, although no specific booking volume has been disclosed.
Industry Context: Navratri Passenger Vehicle Retail Declines Despite Festive Optimism
Tata Motors' strong delivery numbers come against a mixed industry backdrop.
According to provisional data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), India's passenger vehicle registrations during Navratri 2026 reached 1,82,728 units.
Metric | Navratri 2026 |
Total automobile retail | 11,23,086 |
Passenger vehicle registrations | 1,82,728 |
PV growth vs 2025 | -21.91% |
PV growth vs 2024 | +10.39% |
Electric PV registrations | 12,305 |
Electric PV growth YoY | +25.97% |
The sharp decline against Navratri 2025 needs context. Last year's festive period covered 11 days compared with 10 days in 2026, while GST-related demand had created an unusually high comparison base.
Compared with the more comparable Navratri 2024 period, passenger vehicle registrations increased by 10.39%.
Importantly, Tata Motors' reported figure refers to customer deliveries, while FADA reports registrations. These figures should not be treated as directly comparable for calculating market share.

Auto Punditz Take
Tata Motors' delivery of more than 50,000 vehicles during Navratri indicates strong execution during one of India's most important automotive buying periods.
The ability to deliver over 10,000 vehicles on Dussehra alone also highlights the importance of dealer inventory readiness and logistics during auspicious buying occasions.
However, festive delivery volumes do not necessarily translate into sustained sales growth. A clearer assessment will emerge from October's full-month wholesales, retail registrations and inventory trends.
With the Diwali buying period still ahead, Tata Motors will aim to convert its healthy booking pipeline into additional customer deliveries.
The key question now is whether Tata Motors can sustain this momentum beyond the festive season and translate strong retail demand into higher market share.
