Tata Motors to leverage JLR expertise to strengthen SUV portfolio

Tata Motors is aiming to create a synergy amongst Tata and Jaguar Land Rover brands and will be tapping into the premium markets while developing their newer products. This is done in view of the increasing popularity and demands of compact SUVs as well SUVs in the Indian markets.

Tata Motors chairman N Chandrasekaran at the launch event of the Safari said that Tata has always created iconic cars like the Sierra, Estate, Indica and the Nano. He also spoke about the Harrier, Nexon and Altroz saying these cars brought distinctive features and best safety standards to the Indian markets.


Shailesh Chandra, President of Tata Motors’ Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, previously in an interview stated that the ‘Tata Harrier’ was a “wonderful example” of how Tata Motors utilised something which was available within Jaguar Land Rover. “We have cost adjusted it for the Indian requirement from a cost/regulation perspective and it has been a success for us so far”, he quoted.


On Monday, the 22nd of February, 2021 launched their all-new Safari SUV ranging from Rs 14.69 lakh to Rs 21.45 lakh ex-showroom, is aiming to build on the legacy of the Safari brand which has also played a leading role in shaping the Indian SUV market.
