Top 25 Selling Cars in India for May 2025

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has replaced the Hyundai Creta as India's best-selling car for May 2025, with 18,084 units dispatched. It is seldom that a Sedan has taken the top slot in the Indian market for a very long time. Maruti's latest iteration of the Dzire has renewed volumes for the model and has emerged as the highest-selling car in May'25. The facelift was launched in November 2024, and the model has been averaging over 16,000 units per month since then. The taxi volumes have also helped the model and has ousted the likes of Ertiga, Brezza, and Creta to adorn the Numero Uno position.

Maruti's Ertiga numbers remain steady and ranked second in May'25. The MPV is having a dream run and gaining continued acceptance due to the value it offers. Maruti Brezza stood third in the ranking and was also the highest-selling SUV of May 2025. The Top 3 selling models of last month had Sedan, MUV and SUV faring in the body style!

Notably, Swift, Punch, and Grand Vitara have seen a major volume dip (>25% YoY drop). The dip in volumes is an indicator of the stress the volumes are facing and hence the stock correction action from the respective OEMs.
