Top 25 Selling Cars in India for September 2025

Tata Nexon emerged as India's best-selling car for September 2025. With over 22,500 units dispatched in September, this is the highest monthly figure ever for any single Tata model, and it played a large role in Tata’s record month. Tata Motors also had Punch fare in the Top 5, and it's after a long time since 2 Tata models were placed in the Top 5 highest-selling cars.

There were no hatchbacks in the Top 5! The GST reduction had the highest benefit for hatchbacks; however the demand momentum inched towards sub-4m SUVs. It is also observed that an increasing number of buyers are opting for EVs or CNG variants. Tata reported its EV sales nearly doubled YoY, and CNG sales also hit record numbers. The change in GST (lower rates) has justified many buyers to make purchases sooner than they might have. Many OEMs reported bookings doubled after the GST changes and in the final part of September. The impact is to be seen in Oct'25 volumes as well.

Hyundai's Creta remained the best-selling mid-sized SUV and was India's third-best-selling car in September 2025. Creta also achieved its best-ever monthly sales in September. Wagon-R continued to be the king of hatchbacks and ranked fourth in the list. Tata Nexon ranked fifth with over 14k dispatches in Aug 2025.
