TVS NTorq Crosses 25 Lakh Sales Milestone in India, Strengthens Position in Performance Scooter Segment
The TVS NTorq range has achieved over 2.5 million cumulative wholesale sales since its 2018 debut, with the newer NTorq 150 contributing to the brand's growth momentum.
TVS Motor Company has achieved a significant milestone in India's two-wheeler market, with its NTorq scooter range crossing 25 lakh cumulative wholesale sales.
The popular sporty scooter nameplate has recorded total dispatches of 25,03,829 units through August 2026, reflecting its sustained demand and growing presence in the performance-oriented scooter category.
Launched in February 2018, the TVS NTorq initially entered the market as a sporty alternative to conventional 125cc family scooters. Over the years, its aggressive styling, performance-focused positioning and connected technology helped it establish a strong identity among younger buyers.
The addition of the TVS NTorq 150 in September 2025 expanded the portfolio into a higher-capacity category, allowing TVS to address a broader customer base while strengthening the NTorq brand's overall sales potential.

TVS NTorq Sales Milestone: Key Highlights
The NTorq range has crossed 25 lakh cumulative wholesale units, reaching 25,03,829 units by August 2026.
The last five lakh units were dispatched in approximately 15 months.
Combined NTorq wholesales stood at 40,256 units in August 2026.
The NTorq 125 accounted for 28,298 units, while the NTorq 150 contributed 11,958 units during August.
April–August 2026 wholesales reached 1,84,475 units, representing approximately 42% year-on-year growth.
The NTorq remains one of TVS Motor Company's important scooter nameplates, alongside its higher-volume Jupiter range.
TVS NTorq's Journey from 2018 to 25 Lakh Units
When TVS introduced the NTorq 125 in 2018, the Indian scooter market was largely dominated by practical, commuter-focused models. The NTorq entered with a different proposition, combining sporty styling, relatively strong performance and features such as Bluetooth-connected instrumentation.
Its positioning appealed to buyers who wanted the convenience of an automatic scooter without compromising on styling and riding enjoyment.
The NTorq reached its first 10 lakh cumulative wholesale units in approximately 51 months. The next 10 lakh units took around three years, while the most recent five lakh units were dispatched in approximately 15 months.
This acceleration reflects the brand's growing scale, supported by the expansion of the NTorq product family.
The achievement is particularly notable because the NTorq operates in a competitive segment where established manufacturers are continuously introducing new features, refreshed styling and additional powertrain options.
TVS NTorq August 2026 Sales Performance
The NTorq range recorded combined wholesale sales of 40,256 units in August 2026. The 125cc version continued to account for the majority of volumes, while the newer 150cc model made a substantial contribution.
Model | August 2026 wholesales | Sales contribution |
TVS NTorq 125 | 28,298 | 70.3% |
TVS NTorq 150 | 11,958 | 29.7% |
Total NTorq range | 40,256 | 100% |
The NTorq 125 contributed approximately seven out of every ten units dispatched during the month. However, the NTorq 150's contribution of nearly 30% indicates that the newer model is becoming an important part of the nameplate's overall volumes.
This is especially relevant because the NTorq 125 experienced a year-on-year decline in August 2026. The addition of the 150cc version helped offset some of the pressure on the original model and supported the combined range's performance.
NTorq Records 42% Growth During April–August 2026
The impact of the expanded NTorq portfolio becomes more visible when examining wholesale performance over the first five months of FY2027.
Period | Wholesale sales |
April–August 2025 | 1,30,023 units |
April–August 2026 | 1,84,475 units |
Volume increase | 54,452 units |
YoY growth | 41.9% |
Combined wholesale volumes grew by more than 54,000 units compared with the corresponding period last year.
The growth highlights how the introduction of a higher-capacity variant can expand an established scooter brand's addressable market.
Rather than relying entirely on the 125cc model, TVS now has two distinct NTorq offerings addressing different buyer requirements and price segments.
NTorq's Position Within TVS Motor Company's Scooter Portfolio
The NTorq has become an established pillar of TVS Motor Company's scooter business, although the Jupiter remains the company's largest-volume scooter.
In FY2026, the NTorq 125 recorded 3,63,904 wholesale units, compared with 3,34,414 units in FY2025, registering approximately 9% growth.
The NTorq accounted for around 16% of TVS's total scooter wholesales during FY2026. While its contribution has moderated from approximately 29% in FY2022, the model has continued to deliver substantial volumes as TVS expanded its overall scooter portfolio.
The NTorq 125 was also India's fifth-best-selling scooter in FY2026, reinforcing its position in a market dominated by established commuter-focused models.
Autocar India
The growth of the Jupiter, alongside the expansion of TVS's electric scooter lineup through the iQube and Orbiter, means that NTorq now operates within a significantly broader company portfolio.
Can the TVS NTorq Reach 4.5 Lakh Annual Sales in FY2027?
The combined NTorq range could approach a new annual wholesale sales record in FY2027 if current demand levels are maintained.
With 1,84,475 units already dispatched during April–August 2026, the brand would need to sell another 2,65,525 units over the remaining seven months to achieve 4.5 lakh annual units.
This translates into an average monthly requirement of approximately 37,932 units, compared with the April–August 2026 average of 36,895 units.
The target appears achievable based on the recent sales momentum, although demand during the festive season, competition and the contribution of the NTorq 150 will influence the final outcome.
A potential 4.5 lakh annual volume would be approximately 24% higher than the NTorq's FY2026 wholesales. This remains an industry projection, not a confirmed TVS sales target.
AutoPunditz Take
The NTorq reaching 25 lakh cumulative wholesale units is significant for its sales achievement and evolution. The Indian scooter market is expanding beyond traditional commuter models, with manufacturers focusing on performance, styling, and connectivity. The NTorq's success shows that sporty scooters can achieve substantial sales, not just niche demand.
For TVS, introducing the NTorq 150 extends the brand, allowing retention of customers as their expectations and budgets grow. However, the decline in NTorq 125's August 2026 sales highlights the need to maintain growth in the 125cc category, rather than relying solely on the 150cc variant.
NTorq's future growth depends on balancing the 125cc base with the 150cc segment. If momentum continues, FY2027 could be a strong financial year. This milestone underscores the potential of scooters that blend usability with performance in India's market.
