Around 25,56,906 two-wheelers were exported from India from April 2020 to January 2021. Bajaj Auto continued its dominance in exports and recorded >57% Market Share!
OEM wise Exports Statistics -
Overall Two Wheeler exports saw a dip of -14.5% YoY and over 25.5 Lakh Two Wheelers were exported from India.
Bajaj continued to dominate the export volumes from India and over 14.6 Lakh units were shipped in the first 10 months of FY2021. It also registered the highest Market Share gain in the said period.
TVS closely followed Bajaj’s footsteps and strengthened its export base during the pandemic. It recorded the lowest YoY fall in exports volumes and cross 22.2% Market Share in Apr'20-Jan’21 timeframe.
Bajaj + TVS now controls near to 80% of Two Wheeler Exports from India. The duo has a clear lead when compared to other players and are going strong.
Honda was a distant third and was able to export just 1.6 Lakh units in Apr'21-Jan’21. It also had one of the highest YoY drops in terms of exports this year.
Yamaha too suffered significantly in terms of exports in FY2021 and saw a dip of -47% YoY. Hero MotoCorp is catching up fast and is all set to overtake Yamaha in FY2021.
Top 20 Two Wheelers Exported from India -
The Top 20 exported models contributed over 87% of the overall two-wheeler exports from India.
Do note that not a single scooter fares in the list of Top 10 exported Two Wheelers! Also, 100cc bikes dominate the export volumes from India (Boxer & Star City).
It is also interesting to see that Honda doesn't have a single model in the Top 10 list! Bajaj has a lion's share here with 5 models in the Top 10, followed by TVS with 3 models.
Bajaj’s Boxer & Star City were the clear favorites and significant volumes are being exported every month. Surprisingly both these models don’t sell that well in the Indian market!
