VinFast has secured an Indian design patent for the upcoming Rasad electric maxi-scooter, adding another potential model to the Vietnamese EV manufacturer's growing two-wheeler portfolio for India.
VinFast's electric two-wheeler ambitions in India are beginning to take clearer shape. The company has registered the design of its upcoming Rasad electric scooter in India, months ahead of the model's expected global market introduction.
The latest filing is important not merely because of the Rasad itself, but because it follows patents for other VinFast electric two-wheelers in India. Collectively, these developments suggest that VinFast could be preparing for a much broader entry into India's electric two-wheeler market rather than launching a single scooter.
The Rasad is expected to sit towards the premium end of VinFast's scooter portfolio, adopting a maxi-scooter format with a relatively powerful electric drivetrain and sporty hardware.
VinFast Rasad Design Registered In India
Patent documents accompanying the design show VinFast Trading and Production Joint Stock Company as the applicant.
The filing carries Design Number 500338-001, while the images shared with the registration classify the vehicle under Class 12-11.
The document also indicates a Vietnamese priority filing dated January 20, 2026, while the Indian registration is dated April 30, 2026.
While a registered design doesn't automatically mean that a vehicle will be launched commercially in India, its timing assumes greater significance given VinFast's stated interest in entering the Indian electric two-wheeler business and its recent string of two-wheeler filings.
A Proper Electric Maxi-Scooter
Unlike many compact electric scooters designed primarily for short-distance urban commuting, the Rasad has the visual proportions of a considerably larger machine.
The front gets a tall windscreen, broad bodywork and an unusual multi-element lighting arrangement. VinFast's signature V-shaped lighting treatment is integrated prominently into the front fascia.
A centrally positioned headlamp sits higher up, while the large front apron and substantial side panels give the scooter considerably more road presence than a conventional commuter EV.
From the side, the Rasad gets a long and stepped seat, relatively high rear section and sizeable wheels.
The overall appearance places it much closer to the maxi-scooter category populated by performance-focused ICE products such as the Yamaha Aerox and Honda ADV160 than to entry-level electric commuters.
14-Inch Wheels And Disc Brakes At Both Ends
The patent images also provide a reasonable look at Rasad's chassis hardware.
It uses telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers, while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends.
Reports indicate that the scooter runs on 14-inch alloy wheels, which should contribute to its substantial proportions while potentially improving high-speed stability over smaller-wheeled urban scooters.
Other details visible in the design include a wide handlebar, sizeable footboard area, pillion grab rail and road-oriented tyres.
The wide seat and upright ergonomics suggest that VinFast is targeting riders who want greater comfort and performance than a basic city-oriented electric scooter can offer.
VinFast Rasad Expected Specifications
VinFast hasn't yet published detailed production specifications for Rasad, so its battery capacity, certified range and charging characteristics remain unknown.
However, reports originating from Vietnam indicate that the Rasad could use a centrally mounted electric motor developing around 7.1 kW of peak power.
A claimed top speed of around 100 km/h has also been reported.
If these figures are retained for the eventual production model, Rasad would occupy a distinctly performance-oriented position within the electric scooter market.

These powertrain figures haven't yet been formally confirmed as production specifications by VinFast.
Rasad Is Part Of VinFast's New-Generation Scooter Strategy
Rasad is understood to be part of a wider overhaul of VinFast's electric two-wheeler portfolio.
The scooter was shown as part of a group of future products that also includes models such as the Sadie and Saxil, indicating that VinFast is developing products spanning different use cases and performance levels rather than relying exclusively on its existing scooters.
The Rasad is expected to make its wider commercial debut around the fourth quarter of 2026, although final specifications and market-wise availability haven't yet been announced.
Multiple VinFast Two-Wheeler Patents Now Surface In India
This is where the India story becomes more interesting.
Rasad isn't the first VinFast electric two-wheeler to receive design protection in India.
A VinFast scooter closely related to the Viper has previously appeared in Indian patent filings. Another filing is believed to relate to the company's upcoming Sulad electric motorcycle.

India, however, represents a very different opportunity.

For VinFast, entering this market would allow it to expand beyond the passenger EV segment and leverage its wider manufacturing and localisation ambitions in India.

Could Rasad Come To India?
There is still no official confirmation that the Rasad will be launched in India.
That distinction is important.

Rasad could serve as the aspirational product in that portfolio.

But the Indian EV two-wheeler market has also become much more demanding. Competitive hardware needs to be supported by the right pricing, localisation, battery reliability, service network and ownership experience.
VinFast has shown that it is serious about establishing a long-term presence in India through its four-wheeler operations. The growing two-wheeler patent portfolio suggests the next chapter could extend well beyond electric SUVs.
For now, Rasad should be viewed as a strong indicator of VinFast's future direction rather than a confirmed India launch.
