Yamaha Motor Opens Robotics Sales & Service Facility in Gurugram to Strengthen India Automation Business

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has opened a new Robotics Business Support Division in Gurugram, Haryana, marking a strategic expansion of its robotics business in India.

The facility has been established within Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. (YMIS), the company’s Indian arm that primarily manages sales of motorcycles and other Yamaha Motor products in the country.

The new Gurugram facility will function as a dedicated sales and service support centre for Yamaha’s robotics business in India. Yamaha says the move is aimed at strengthening local customer support, improving business processes, and expanding the company’s robotics footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing manufacturing markets.

India’s Manufacturing Growth Creates New Opportunity

India’s manufacturing sector has been witnessing steady growth and rising sophistication in recent years. With electronics, automotive, industrial equipment, and semiconductor-related manufacturing gaining momentum, demand for automation and precision robotics is also expected to increase.

Yamaha Motor has highlighted that India’s robotics market is showing strong growth potential. However, the company also sees significant headroom to improve brand awareness and expand the scale of its robotics operations in the country. The new division in Gurugram is designed to address this opportunity by offering closer sales and service support to Indian customers.

In the first phase, the Robotics Business Support Division will provide support for SMT Assembly Systems and industrial robots. SMT, or Surface Mount Technology, is widely used in electronics manufacturing for placing components on printed circuit boards.

This indicates that Yamaha is initially targeting customers in electronics manufacturing and industrial automation, where speed, accuracy, and production efficiency are key priorities. The company also plans to build the required structure to support semiconductor back-end processing equipment in the future.

Showroom to Demonstrate Latest Robotics Technologies

A key highlight of the facility is its dedicated showroom, which showcases Yamaha Motor’s latest robotics technologies. The showroom will allow customers to experience Yamaha’s products and automation solutions firsthand.

This hands-on demonstration space is expected to help clients better understand how Yamaha’s robotics systems can be used in real production environments. Yamaha aims to use the facility not only as a sales and service centre, but also as a solution-oriented space to help customers solve production challenges and improve productivity.

Yamaha’s Gurugram robotics facility comes at a time when India is pushing deeper into electronics manufacturing, industrial automation, and semiconductor ecosystem development. For global robotics players, India is becoming an increasingly important market as manufacturers look to improve quality, reduce manual dependency, and scale production efficiently.

For Yamaha Motor, this move is also significant because it strengthens the company’s non-two-wheeler business presence in India. While Yamaha is best known in India for motorcycles and scooters, the new facility highlights its broader industrial technology capabilities.
