2026 Tata Harrier and Safari Stealth Editions Launched; Prices Start at ₹23.43 Lakh

Tata Motors has introduced the 2026 Harrier Stealth Edition and Safari Stealth Edition in India, expanding its premium SUV portfolio with a distinctive matte-black design treatment and a feature-rich cabin.

Prices for the new Harrier Stealth Edition start at ₹23.43 lakh, while the Safari Stealth Edition has been priced from ₹24.09 lakh, ex-showroom. Unlike the previous limited-production Stealth models, the latest editions are available with both petrol and diesel powertrains, significantly widening their appeal.

The special editions are based on the higher-spec Fearless Ultra trim of the Harrier and the Accomplished Ultra trim of the Safari.

Matte-Black Styling Takes Centre Stage

The biggest differentiator is the exclusive Stealth Black exterior finish, which gives the two SUVs a more aggressive and premium appearance.

The design package includes:

  • Matte Stealth Black exterior colour

  • 19-inch Matte Stealth Black alloy wheels

  • Blacked-out exterior detailing

  • Stealth badges on the front fenders

  • Darkened cabin theme

The non-reflective paint highlights the muscular proportions of the Harrier and Safari while setting them apart from Tata Motors’ regular Dark Edition models.

Tata had originally introduced the Stealth treatment in February 2025 as a limited-edition offering restricted to 2,700 units across the Harrier and Safari. The latest introduction effectively brings the design theme back as part of a broader model range rather than a tightly limited collector’s edition.

All-Black Carbon Noir Interior

The dark exterior treatment is carried into the cabin through Tata’s Carbon Noir interior theme.

Both SUVs receive black leatherette upholstery, dark dashboard trim and a bejewelled rotary drive-mode selector. The blacked-out treatment complements the premium equipment offered on the Fearless Ultra and Accomplished Ultra variants.

The Harrier remains a five-seat SUV, while the Safari offers a three-row cabin aimed at buyers requiring six- or seven-seat practicality.

Loaded with Premium Features

As the Stealth Editions are based on high-end variants, the equipment list is extensive.

Major highlights include:

  • 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system

  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • 13-speaker JBL audio system

  • Dolby Atmos support

  • Digital instrument cluster

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control

  • Powered and ventilated front seats

  • 360-degree surround-view camera

  • Connected-car technology

  • Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems

The equipment package places the Stealth models close to the top of their respective line-ups, targeting customers who want the darker cosmetic treatment without sacrificing technology or comfort.

Petrol and Diesel Engine Options

A significant change for 2026 is the availability of both petrol and diesel engines.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces approximately 168 bhp and 280 Nm, while the familiar 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine generates approximately 168 bhp and 350 Nm.

Transmission choices include:

  • Six-speed manual gearbox

  • Six-speed automatic transmission

There are no major mechanical changes specific to the Stealth Editions. The updates are primarily cosmetic and equipment-related, with the engines, gearboxes and front-wheel-drive configuration carried over from the standard Harrier and Safari range.

More Than Just Another Dark Edition

Tata Motors has used special editions effectively to maintain customer interest in models between major product updates. However, the Stealth range is positioned slightly differently from the company’s familiar Dark Editions.

While both rely on black-themed styling, the matte paint finish gives the Stealth models a more distinctive and exclusive appearance. Matte finishes remain relatively uncommon on mass-market SUVs because they generally require more careful maintenance than conventional gloss paint.

Owners may need to avoid abrasive polishing, automated brush-based car washes and

conventional paint correction methods to preserve the finish. This could make the Stealth Edition more appealing to enthusiasts who prioritise exclusivity, but less convenient for buyers seeking easy long-term upkeep.

Stronger Competition in the Premium SUV Segment

The Harrier and Safari compete in an increasingly crowded market populated by models such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Mahindra Scorpio-N, MG Hector, MG Hector Plus and Jeep Compass.

The addition of a petrol engine is particularly important because it allows Tata Motors to address customers who may not want a diesel SUV, especially those with lower annual running or primarily urban usage.

At the same time, the diesel remains the more torque-rich choice and could continue to

attract highway users and buyers who frequently travel with a full passenger load.

Auto Punditz Take

The return of the Stealth Edition reflects Tata Motors’ strategy of creating distinct visual identities around its flagship SUVs without introducing major mechanical changes.

At ₹23.43 lakh for the Harrier and ₹24.09 lakh for the Safari, the Stealth Editions are positioned as premium lifestyle-oriented alternatives rather than value-focused variants. Their appeal will largely depend on how strongly buyers value the matte-black finish, loaded equipment package and exclusivity over conventional gloss-painted versions.

The introduction of petrol power broadens the potential customer base, while the extensive feature list ensures that the Stealth Editions remain competitive against newer rivals. However, customers should also consider the additional care associated with maintaining matte paint before making a purchase.

For buyers seeking maximum road presence and a factory-finished blacked-out appearance, the 2026 Harrier and Safari Stealth Editions are among the most visually distinctive SUVs in Tata Motors’ current portfolio.
