Kia India was able to ship 575 units of the Carens in January 2022. The model is slated to be launched in Mid-Feb'22 and has already reached Kia showrooms for display.
Kia had unveiled the Carens, in December last year and marks its entrance in the Mass MUV segment. The Carens made its global debut in India. Kia has termed the Carens as an RV(Recreational Vehicle) and aims to offer customers SUV styling with MUV practicality with the model.
Including Carens, Kia India was able to register wholesale of 19,319 units in January 2022 and the volumes grew 1% over Jan'21 and 148% over Dec'21.
Kia Seltos was the best-selling Mid SUV for Jan'22 and was also able to overtake Creta volumes last month. Do note that Seltos crossed the 11k dispatches mark after 22 long months and signifies improving semiconductor availability with the carmaker.
Sonet volumes dipped by 22 percent over the same period last year. The varying volumes of Sonet is not very assuring.
575 units of Carens before launch highlights Kia's focus on gaining volumes from the model. Kia is all set to fight the 6/7 seater offerings in the market currently (right from Ertiga at the lower end to XUV700 at the premium end).
Carnival maintains >300 units dispatches and has its own niche in the Premium MUV segment.
