Genesis has unveiled the production-spec GV90, its largest and most luxurious SUV yet. Positioned at the top of Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury portfolio, the full-size electric SUV introduces a new flagship EV platform, a 123.5kWh battery, dual-motor all-wheel drive, ultra-luxury cabin technology and what Genesis claims is the world’s first Roof Airbag.
The GV90 will be offered in standard and more luxurious Neolun forms, with the latter bringing several concept-car-inspired features into production, including coach doors and a hidden B-pillar arrangement.

Largest Battery Yet on a Hyundai Motor Group EV
The GV90 debuts a new eMP electric platform developed specifically for Hyundai Motor Group’s flagship EVs. It measures 5,285mm long and 2,030mm wide, while the wheelbase stretches to 3,245mm.
Power comes from two electric motors. The front motor develops 240kW and 350Nm, while the rear motor produces 250kW and 450Nm. Combined output stands at 490kW, equivalent to around 657bhp, and 800Nm.
The SUV also gets electronic limited-slip differentials at both axles, multi-chamber air suspension, electronically controlled dampers and rear-wheel steering.
A 123.5kWh battery pack is used, making it the largest battery fitted to a Hyundai Motor Group EV so far. Genesis estimates a driving range of around 500km for the seven-seat version, based on internal testing.
With a 350kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in a claimed 22 minutes.
Neolun Version Gets Coach Doors and Hidden B-Pillar
One of the most dramatic elements of the GV90 is the Neolun Arch Gate available on the flagship Neolun version.
Unlike the regular GV90, which uses conventional doors, the Neolun gets front- and rear-hinged coach doors that open in opposite directions. Genesis says this creates a wide entry aperture without a conventional fixed B-pillar.
The company claims it is the world’s first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach-door arrangement.
To maintain structural rigidity, Genesis has incorporated high-strength dual steel beams into the doors, while additional strengthening is used around the body structure.
The front seats can also rotate by up to 180 degrees when the vehicle is stationary, allowing front occupants to face rear-seat passengers.
Ultra-Luxury Cabin With Pop-Up OLED Screen
The GV90’s interior is designed around the idea of a luxury lounge rather than a conventional SUV cabin.
A 23.6-inch OLED Cinematic Display combines instrumentation and infotainment functions. When the vehicle is parked, the screen can rise by 90mm and become a larger 24.6-inch entertainment display.
Other major features include:
25-inch head-up display
Pleos Connect infotainment
Generative AI assistant
25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D audio
Dolby Atmos
Massage seats
Extensive acoustic glazing
Advanced sound insulation
Genesis says some of the vehicle’s glass is more than 5mm thick to improve cabin isolation.
Four-Seat Executive Suite Targets Chauffeur-Driven Buyers
The most luxurious version of the GV90 will be the Neolun Executive Suite, which uses a four-seat layout.
Rear-seat passengers get a far more elaborate environment, including real wood veneer flooring, radiant heating inspired by traditional Korean ondol underfloor heating, a refrigerator, integrated tables and semi-aniline leather upholstery.
A partition between the passenger compartment and luggage area is also offered.
The Smart Vision Roof uses PDLC technology and allows occupants to independently alter the transparency of different zones in the panoramic roof.
A limited-run Neolun First Edition will add further bespoke exterior and interior treatments.
World’s First Roof Airbag
The most unusual safety technology on the GV90 is its Roof Airbag.
Genesis says the GV90 uses a total of 12 airbags, including what it claims is the world’s first airbag designed specifically to deploy across the fixed glass roof during a severe rollover.
The system is intended to reduce the possibility of occupants making contact with the glass roof and improve protection in rollover situations.
Curtain airbags extend to the third row, while additional seat-cushion airbags are designed to reduce submarining during a crash.
Genesis has also added enhanced battery protection and thermal-runaway mitigation technologies.
Genesis GV90 – India Relevance
The GV90’s global debut is particularly interesting because Genesis is expected to enter India in 2027, although the brand has not yet announced its final India model line-up.
The GV80 and GV80 Coupe are widely expected to be more likely early candidates for the Indian market.
There is no official confirmation that the GV90 itself will be launched in India, so the flagship EV should currently be viewed more as a showcase of what Genesis can offer at the top end of the luxury market.
Even so, the GV90 gives Indian buyers an early look at the design, safety, software and EV technology that could eventually influence other Genesis products sold here.
Auto Punditz Take
The Genesis GV90 is important not simply because it is another large luxury EV.
It is effectively a technology flagship for Hyundai Motor Group.
The 123.5kWh battery, 350kW charging, dual-motor AWD system and 657bhp output place it squarely among the most advanced luxury EVs on sale globally. But the more interesting elements are the technologies around it.
The Roof Airbag, hidden-B-pillar coach doors, rotating front seats, pop-up OLED display and 25-speaker audio system show that Genesis is trying to compete through product innovation rather than relying only on traditional luxury cues.
For Hyundai Motor Group, this matters because flagship technologies often filter downward over time.
If Genesis succeeds with these ideas, future Hyundai and Kia EVs could eventually benefit from some of the safety, software and cabin technologies first introduced on the GV90.
For India, the GV90 itself may remain a niche proposition even if Genesis eventually brings it here. But as Genesis prepares for its expected India entry, the GV90 establishes the brand’s ambition very clearly: it wants to compete not as a value-luxury alternative, but as a genuine global rival to established premium marques.
