Bajaj Auto's popular Chetak electric scooter has crossed the 10 lakh cumulative retail sales milestone in India, becoming the third electric two-wheeler manufacturer to achieve this landmark after Ola Electric and TVS Motor Company.

The scooter's growing popularity has also strengthened Bajaj Auto's competitive
position, with its electric two-wheeler market share reaching approximately 22.5% in 2026.

The Chetak's sales trajectory highlights how the electric scooter has evolved from a relatively niche offering into one of India's leading electric two-wheelers.

October 2026 Becomes Chetak's Best-Ever Month
Bajaj Chetak registered 49,170 retail sales in October 2026, marking its highest monthly performance to date. The company's quarterly performance also reflects sustained momentum.
Period | Chetak registrations |

Q2 2026 | 1,17,679 |
Q3 2026 | 1,36,040 |
October 2026 | 49,170 |
The sequential growth across the first three quarters suggests that demand has continued to strengthen throughout the year. The festive season could provide further support during the final two months of 2026.
Bajaj Becomes India's Second-Largest Electric Two-Wheeler Manufacturer
The Chetak's growth has also reinforced Bajaj Auto's position among India's leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers.
TVS Motor Company continues to lead with 4,81,704 registrations, followed by Bajaj Auto with 4,12,409 units. Ather Energy occupies third position with 2,99,778 registrations.
The difference between TVS and Bajaj stands at 69,295 units, highlighting the increasingly competitive nature of India's electric scooter market.

Can Bajaj Chetak Cross 5 Lakh Annual Sales in 2026?
With 4,12,409 units already sold, Bajaj Chetak needs another 87,591 registrations to reach 5 lakh units in calendar year 2026.
The record October performance offers an encouraging foundation. However, reaching the milestone will depend on sustained retail demand in November and December.
Even without achieving the 5 lakh target, 2026 is already the strongest calendar year in Chetak's electric journey.

Auto Punditz Analysis
Bajaj Chetak's 10 lakh sales milestone highlights the growing dominance of established two-wheeler manufacturers in India's EV market.
Bajaj's expanding product range, competitive pricing and extensive dealership network have helped accelerate Chetak's growth. With TVS and Bajaj leading electric two-wheeler registrations, traditional automakers are increasingly challenging newer EV brands.
The next challenge for Bajaj will be sustaining this momentum amid intensifying competition. Chetak's success demonstrates how brand trust, product accessibility and after-sales support are shaping India's electric mobility transition.
