Auto Punditz Take

The August 2026 data shows that India's MUV market continues to be led overwhelmingly by the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, despite its volumes remaining broadly flat year-on-year.

The more interesting development is happening below the market leader. The Toyota Rumion has gained substantial scale, the Nissan Gravite has entered with 1,440 units, and Maruti's XL6 continues to post positive growth.

At the same time, traditional high-volume players such as the Innova and Kia Carens/Clavis recorded YoY declines.

With overall MUV dispatches nevertheless growing 7% to 42,654 units, demand for three-row family vehicles remains healthy, but the August numbers also highlight how heavily the market continues to depend on a handful of nameplates.
