Sealion 7 led BYD’s September dispatches with 530 units, compared with 216 units a year earlier. This translated into 145.4% YoY growth, adding 314 units to the brand’s monthly tally. The model contributed 46.6% of BYD’s total dispatches, making it the largest contributor to both monthly volumes and the absolute year-on-year increase. However, its lead over the Atto 3 was narrow at just 11 units.
Atto 3 recorded 519 units, up from 199 units in September 2025, delivering 160.8% YoY growth—the highest percentage increase among BYD’s models. Its volumes increased by 320 units, slightly exceeding the Sealion 7’s incremental contribution. The Atto 3 accounted for 45.6% of BYD’s September 2026 dispatches, placing it almost level with the monthly leader.
Together, the Atto 3 and Sealion 7 dispatched 1,049 units, compared with 415 units a year earlier. Their combined increase of 634 units exceeded BYD’s overall gain of 624 units, as the decline in eMax 7 volumes partly offset their growth.
eMax 7 recorded 76 units in September 2026, down from 88 units in the corresponding month last year. This represented a 13.6% YoY decline, or a reduction of 12 units. It was the only model in BYD’s line-up to register a year-on-year contraction and contributed 6.7% of the brand’s monthly dispatches.
Seal registered 12 units, compared with 10 units in September 2025, translating into 20.0% YoY growth. While the percentage movement was positive, the absolute increase was just two units. The sedan accounted for approximately 1.1% of BYD’s total dispatches during the month.

Auto Punditz Take
BYD’s September 2026 performance shows strong growth, with dispatches more than doubling year-on-year. The Atto 3 and Sealion 7 were responsible for virtually all the momentum, contributing a combined 92.3% of total volumes.
That concentration is the key takeaway. BYD’s overall growth was substantial, but performance across its portfolio remained uneven, with the eMax 7 declining and the Seal contributing limited volumes. The next few months will show whether BYD can sustain the momentum of its two leading models while broadening contributions from the rest of its range.
