Ducati Hypermotard V2, V2 SP Launched in India at ₹16.53 Lakh – 120 HP, New Engine & Lighter Chassis
Ducati has launched the all-new Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP in India on October 22, 2026, with prices starting at ₹16.53 lakh (ex-showroom). The fourth-generation supermotard introduces a new 890cc V-twin engine, a lighter aluminium monocoque chassis, redesigned styling and improved rider-assistance electronics.
The standard Hypermotard V2 is priced at ₹16.53 lakh, while the performance-focused V2 SP commands ₹20.78 lakh. Bookings are now open at Ducati dealerships across India.
Price and Variants
Variant | Ex-showroom price |
Hypermotard V2 | ₹16,53,000 |
Hypermotard V2 SP | ₹20,78,000 |
Price difference | ₹4,25,000 |
The V2 SP justifies its premium with upgraded Öhlins suspension, forged aluminium wheels, higher-specification brakes and sportier tyres, targeting riders who prioritise aggressive cornering and occasional track riding.
New 890cc V-Twin Engine
The biggest mechanical upgrade is Ducati's 890cc, liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin engine, replacing the previous Hypermotard 950's 937cc Testastretta unit.
The new engine develops 120.4 hp at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm at 8,250 rpm. It also features Intake Variable Timing (IVT), designed to deliver a more flexible powerband across engine speeds. Ducati says 70% of peak torque is available from just 3,000 rpm.
The engine weighs approximately 54.4 kg, making it Ducati's lightest twin-cylinder engine to date.
Lighter Chassis and Improved Handling
The new Hypermotard uses an aluminium monocoque chassis, with the engine functioning as a stressed structural element.
According to Ducati's published figures, the standard V2 weighs 180 kg and the V2 SP weighs 177 kg, both measured wet without fuel. The redesigned platform reduces weight by approximately 13–14 kg compared with the preceding generation.
The reduced weight, upright riding stance and supermoto-style ergonomics are intended to make the motorcycle more responsive during rapid direction changes.
V2 vs V2 SP – What's Different?

Front suspension | Kayaba USD | Öhlins NIX30 |
Rear suspension | Kayaba | Öhlins STX46 |

Technology and Electronics
Both motorcycles feature a 5-inch TFT instrument display and a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). The electronic package includes traction control, wheelie control, engine-braking control and a quickshifter.
These systems are especially relevant to the Hypermotard's character, where aggressive acceleration, braking and rapid cornering are central to the riding experience.

Auto Punditz Take
The Hypermotard V2 represents a substantial engineering upgrade rather than a cosmetic update. Ducati has combined higher engine output, meaningful weight reduction and sophisticated electronics while retaining the playful character that defines its supermotard range.
At ₹16.53 lakh, the standard V2 looks particularly interesting because it delivers the same peak power as the significantly more expensive SP. The additional ₹4.25 lakh for the SP is primarily about chassis sophistication, premium suspension and enhanced track-oriented hardware rather than outright horsepower.
For riders focused on spirited road riding, the standard V2 may offer the more compelling value proposition. The SP is better suited to enthusiasts who can exploit its upgraded components.
However, the tall riding stance, uncompromising character and premium ownership costs will limit its appeal among everyday motorcycle buyers.
The bigger takeaway: Ducati has made the Hypermotard lighter, more powerful and more technologically advanced, sharpening its position as a distinctive performance motorcycle in India's premium two-wheeler market.
