Honda ADV160 Unveiled: Made in India, Made for the World – India's First E85 Flex-Fuel Maxi Scooter

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has taken the wraps off the all-new Honda ADV160, introducing one of its most ambitious premium scooter offerings for the Indian market. More than just another maxi scooter, the ADV160 showcases Honda's future-ready strategy with local manufacturing, export focus, and E85 flex-fuel compatibility, making it a significant addition to the company's expanding portfolio.

The company describes the ADV160 as "Made in India, Made for the World," reinforcing India's growing importance as a global manufacturing hub for Honda's premium two-wheelers. The scooter will be manufactured locally and exported to international markets, aligning with Honda's broader localisation strategy.

India's First E85-Compatible Scooter

The biggest talking point is undoubtedly the ADV160's E85-compatible engine. Unlike conventional petrol scooters, it can operate on ethanol blends ranging from standard petrol up to E85 (85% ethanol and 15% petrol), making it one of the most future-ready two-wheelers showcased in India. This move complements Honda's multi-pathway strategy that includes petrol, electric and flex-fuel technologies.

Power comes from a 157cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing approximately 16.3 hp and 14.9 Nm, paired with a CVT automatic transmission for effortless urban commuting and touring.

Adventure Styling Meets Premium Features

The ADV160 brings rugged adventure-inspired styling rarely seen in the scooter segment.

Key highlights include:

  • 157cc liquid-cooled engine

  • E85 Flex Fuel compatibility

  • Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)

  • Single-channel ABS

  • TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity

  • LED lighting throughout

  • Adjustable windscreen

  • 27-litre under-seat storage

  • 8.1-litre fuel tank

  • 165 mm ground clearance

  • 780 mm seat height (Autocar)

Will Rival Aerox 155 And Hero Xoom 160

Once launched, the ADV160 will enter the premium scooter segment against rivals like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160. Honda plans to retail the scooter through both its RedWing and BigWing dealership networks, ensuring wider accessibility than many premium offerings.

Auto Punditz Take

The ADV160 isn't merely another premium scooter launch. It reflects Honda's long-term vision for India as both a manufacturing and export base while also preparing for the country's evolving ethanol roadmap. By combining adventure scooter practicality with flex-fuel technology and premium features, Honda has created a product that could redefine the premium scooter segment when it officially reaches showrooms.

While Honda is yet to announce the official launch date and pricing, the ADV160 already stands out as one of the most interesting two-wheeler unveilings of 2026.
