Hyundai recorded dispatches of 54,396 units in August 2026, registering 24% year-on-year growth over the 44,001 units reported in August 2025. Month-on-month volumes remained broadly stable, rising by just 186 units, or 0.3%, from July’s 54,210 units. The Creta remained Hyundai’s highest-selling model, followed by the Venue and Exter. While the Creta’s volumes declined sequentially, gains across the Venue, Exter, Aura and Grand i10 helped Hyundai maintain its overall monthly tally.

Venue registered 11,365 units, growing 40% over August 2025’s 8,109 units. Volumes also increased 2% over July, keeping it firmly in second place.
Exter delivered the strongest year-on-year percentage growth in Hyundai’s line-up, rising 61% to 8,157 units. Compared with July’s 6,810 units, it grew 20%.
Together, the Venue and Exter added 6,352 units year-on-year, accounting for approximately 61% of Hyundai’s overall increase of 10,395 units.
The Creta, Venue and Exter collectively contributed 35,810 units, or nearly 66% of Hyundai’s August total.
Aura recorded 6,685 units, registering 25% year-on-year growth and a 15% increase over July. It ranked fourth in Hyundai’s portfolio, ahead of both hatchbacks.
Grand i10 posted 5,342 units, up 37% from August 2025 and 32% from July. This was the strongest month-on-month percentage increase among Hyundai’s models.
Combined, the Aura and Grand i10 added 2,155 units over July, helping offset declines elsewhere in the range.
i20 recorded 5,165 units, a 42% increase over the 3,634 units reported a year earlier.
Alcazar recorded 856 units, down 28% year-on-year and marginally below July’s 862 units.
Verna stood at 529 units, declining 31% from August 2025 and 28% from July. Both models recorded lower volumes across the annual and monthly comparisons.
IONIQ 5 registered dispatches of nine units, compared with 14 units a year earlier and eight units in July. Its 13% monthly increase represented a gain of just one unit.

Auto Punditz Take
Hyundai’s August performance shows strong annual growth with a mixed monthly trend. The Creta retained its leadership, but the Venue and Exter generated the bulk of the additional volume over August 2025.
The encouraging development was the contribution from the Aura and Grand i10, which helped balance the sequential declines in the Creta and i20. However, weaker volumes for the Alcazar and Verna indicate that the recovery was uneven across the portfolio.
With total volumes barely above July, the key measure in the coming months will be whether Hyundai can sustain gains across its smaller models while rebuilding momentum in the Creta and i20.
