JBM Auto Leads Electric Bus Registrations in September 2026 With 33% Market Share
JBM Auto registered 274 electric buses in September 2026, securing a 33% share of India’s electric bus market, according to Vahan data cited in the company’s latest press release. JBM said this was the highest registration tally among electric bus manufacturers for the month.
The September performance also strengthened its position for the first half of FY2026–27. Between April and September 2026, JBM registered 892 electric buses, against 3,771 registrations across the Indian electric bus market.

Metric | Performance |
JBM registrations — September 2026 | 274 |
September market share reported by JBM | 33% |
JBM registrations — April–September 2026 | 892 |
Industry registrations — April–September 2026 | 3,771 |
JBM first-half market share — calculated | 23.7% |
The calculated first-half share is consistent with the approximately 24% reported by the company. These figures refer to vehicle registrations.
September contributes nearly a third of first-half registrations
September alone accounted for 30.7% of JBM’s April–September registrations, based on the disclosed figures. Its reported monthly market share of 33% was also above its first-half share of approximately 24%. This makes September a particularly strong contributor to JBM’s six-month performance. JBM said it also led electric bus registrations during FY2025–26, although the release does not disclose its full-year registration volume.
Manufacturing capacity of 20,000 buses annually
JBM’s electric bus manufacturing facility in the National Capital Region has an annual production capacity of 20,000 buses, according to the company. The facility brings together design, engineering, testing, validation and manufacturing capabilities.
The stated capacity describes the facility’s production capability; the release does not disclose current output or capacity utilisation.
Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto, attributed the registration performance to the company’s integrated electric mobility operations and execution capabilities. He also reiterated JBM’s Net Zero 2040 commitment.
Fleet crosses 450 million electric kilometres
JBM said its electric buses have cumulatively covered more than 450 million kilometres and served over 2 billion passengers. The company estimates that their operation has helped avoid more than 1 billion kilograms of CO₂ emissions.
These are company-reported cumulative milestones. The press release does not provide the calculation methodology for the emissions estimate. For JBM, September’s figures show a stronger monthly market position than its first-half average. Sustaining that share over the coming months will determine how much the September performance lifts its full-year registration tally.
