Strong Demand Across SUV and MPV Portfolio
Kia attributed the strong performance to sustained customer demand across its expanding lineup, particularly the new Seltos, Sonet, Carens Clavis, and the recently updated MY26 Syros.
The company said its diversified portfolio—covering compact SUVs, mid-size SUVs, recreational vehicles and electric mobility solutions—continues to resonate with Indian buyers seeking premium features, advanced connectivity and enhanced safety.
The new Seltos remained the company's biggest growth driver, supported by its refreshed styling, upgraded connected technologies, premium cabin experience and 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, making it India's highest-scoring ICE passenger vehicle under the crash test program.
Meanwhile, the Sonet continued to deliver consistent volumes in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, while the Carens and Carens Clavis strengthened Kia's presence among family buyers looking for spacious, feature-rich mobility solutions.
Kia also noted encouraging customer response for the MY26 Syros, which has become more accessible with its updated value proposition.
Clavis EV Gains Momentum
Kia's electric vehicle strategy also continued to gather pace during the first half of the year.
According to the company, the Clavis EV has witnessed positive customer acceptance, aided by supportive government policies for EV adoption and Kia's recently introduced Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program. The initiative lowers the upfront purchase cost by separating battery ownership from the vehicle, making premium EV ownership more affordable.
The company believes these initiatives will play an important role in accelerating electric mobility adoption in India.
Kia India Management Commentary
Commenting on the performance, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said the record June and H1 sales demonstrate the growing trust customers have in the Kia brand.
He highlighted that demand has remained strong for the new Seltos, Sonet, and Carens Clavis, while the MY26 Syroshas also received an encouraging market response. Sood added that many existing Kia customers are upgrading to the new Seltos, reflecting the strength of the product proposition.
He further stated that the Clavis EV continues to attract buyers, supported by favourable EV policies and Kia's Battery-as-a-Service program, while reaffirming the company's focus on delivering innovative mobility solutions and enhancing the ownership experience.
Auto Punditz Analysis
Kia India's latest sales performance reflects the company's successful strategy of maintaining a balanced product portfolio across multiple high-volume segments instead of relying on a single bestseller.
The refreshed Seltos continues to anchor the brand's SUV lineup, while the Sonet remains one of the strongest performers in the sub-4-metre SUV category. The addition of the Carens Clavis, updated Syros, and the Clavis EV has further diversified Kia's portfolio, enabling the company to capture customers across ICE and EV segments.
With premium features, high safety standards and multiple powertrain options increasingly becoming purchase priorities for Indian consumers, Kia appears well-positioned to sustain its growth momentum in the second half of 2026.
