Kia PV7 Electric Van Debuts With 9-Seat Layout and Over 460km Range
Kia has globally unveiled the PV7, a large electric van developed for passenger transportation and commercial operations. Revealed at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany, the PV7 offers seating for up to nine occupants, two battery options and a targeted WLTP range exceeding 460km.
The PV7 is the second model in Kia’s dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle—or PBV—portfolio, following the smaller PV5. Sales are scheduled to begin in South Korea and Europe during the second half of 2027. An India launch has not been confirmed.

Passenger Version Available With Up to Nine Seats
The PV7 Passenger has been developed for applications such as hotel and airport transfers, employee transportation, rental fleets, tourism and personal mobility.
Kia will offer the passenger van in Compact and Long body configurations. The Compact version will have seven seats as standard, with an eight-seat option. The PV7 Passenger Long will be offered with eight seats as standard and can be configured to accommodate up to nine occupants.
The seven-seat version uses removable seats installed on extended rails. This allows operators to adjust the balance between passenger accommodation and luggage space. The nine-seat model can be specified with or without a fourth seating row, depending on the intended use.
Available passenger-comfort equipment will include separate rear climate controls, multiple storage areas and USB-C charging ports delivering up to 100W. The final equipment list will differ across markets and variants.
Two Battery Pack Options
The Kia PV7 will be available with 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery packs. Depending on the body and powertrain configuration, its electric motor can produce up to 200kW—approximately 272hp—and 420Nm of peak torque.
Front-wheel drive will be standard when the van enters production. Kia has also confirmed plans to introduce an all-wheel-drive derivative later.
The PV7 Cargo Long Range has a targeted combined WLTP range of more than 460km. Kia has yet to announce certified range figures for every passenger and cargo variant.
800V Architecture Enables Faster Charging
Unlike the smaller PV5, which uses a 400-volt electrical system, the PV7 is based on an 800-volt architecture. Kia claims the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes when connected to a compatible 350kW DC fast charger.
The actual charging time will depend on the battery pack, charger output, ambient conditions and battery temperature.
The PV7 is also Kia’s first vehicle designed with two charging-port locations. A port at the front supports both AC and DC charging, while an optional port positioned towards the rear supports AC charging. This arrangement is intended to make charging easier in depots and commercial parking areas.
Vehicle-to-Load technology will allow users to power tools, appliances and other external equipment from the traction battery. Vehicle-to-Grid functionality is also planned, subject to its availability in individual markets.
Large and Configurable Cargo Area
Kia will sell the PV7 Cargo alongside the passenger model. The commercial version will be available with either two or three seats in the front cabin.
The Long Cargo version offers up to 6.1 cubic metres of load space under the VDA measurement standard. The High Roof derivative increases cargo volume to as much as 8.0 cubic metres.
Depending on the version, the PV7 can carry a maximum payload of up to 1,200kg. The Long version has a loading height of 550mm and sufficient floor space for up to three Euro pallets measuring 800mm by 1,200mm each.
Customers will be able to choose between side-hinged rear doors and a conventional upward-opening tailgate. The side-hinged doors can open to approximately 270 degrees, helping access the load compartment in confined areas.
A dedicated Heavy Load driving mode adjusts the vehicle’s responses according to the payload. Cargo-door monitoring, independent cargo-area locking and an electrically operated sliding door with automatic closing will also be offered.
Design Focuses on Maximising Interior Space
The PV7 follows the upright, single-volume design introduced by Kia’s PBV family. Its nearly vertical nose, large windscreen and tall roofline are intended to maximise usable cabin and cargo space within its footprint.
Vertically arranged lighting elements define the front and rear, while contrasting black sections around the windscreen and pillars visually separate the passenger compartment from the lower body.
The vehicle uses Kia’s Flexible Body System, a modular construction method that allows several body styles and conversions to be developed around a common vehicle structure.
Kia plans to expand the PV7 range to 23 derivatives after its initial launch. The future portfolio will include Compact, Long and High Roof cargo vans, Compact and Long passenger models, chassis-cab derivatives and vehicles adapted by conversion specialists.
Android-Based Connected Cabin
The PV7 will feature Kia’s Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS. It will support navigation, over-the-air software updates, configurable screen layouts and access to applications developed by Kia and third-party providers.
A voice assistant called Gleo AI will allow occupants to operate selected vehicle, navigation and communication functions using spoken commands.
For fleet users, Kia plans to provide tools covering vehicle monitoring, charging, maintenance and daily fleet operations. Predictive diagnostic services will also be used to identify potential maintenance requirements before they result in extended vehicle downtime.
Kia PV7 India Launch Possibility
Kia has confirmed that the PV7 Passenger and Cargo will go on sale in South Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027. Other markets and derivatives will follow, but the company has not announced any plans for India.
If introduced locally, the nine-seat electric van could target airport transfers, hotels, corporate mobility providers, tourism operators and premium electric shuttle fleets. Its prospects would depend on pricing, homologation, charging support and whether Kia chooses to import the vehicle or assemble it locally.
For now, any India launch timeline remains speculative.

The PV7 represents Kia’s move beyond conventional electric passenger cars into the larger commercial and shared-mobility market. Its nine-seat option, high-roof cargo derivative and modular body structure allow the same platform to address multiple transport requirements.
The combination of an 800-volt electrical system, a targeted range exceeding 460km and a payload capacity of up to 1,200kg also places the PV7 closer to full-size commercial vans than family-oriented electric MPVs.
Its relevance to India will become clearer only after Kia announces the additional markets planned beyond South Korea and Europe.
