Kia India has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the unveiling of the Syros EV, the brand’s second mass-market electric offering in the country. Pre-bookings are now open for a token amount of ₹25,000 through Kia dealerships and the company’s official website.
Based on the recently introduced Syros compact SUV, the electric version combines a distinctive upright design with two battery choices, a claimed driving range of up to 526 km, fast-charging capability and a comprehensive ownership package aimed at reducing concerns around battery life, resale value and charging access.

Kia Syros EV Battery, Range and Performance
The Kia Syros EV will be available with two Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery options.
Battery | ARAI-certified range | Maximum power |
42 kWh | 443 km | Not announced |
51.4 kWh Extended Range | 526 km | 171 PS |
The larger 51.4 kWh battery gives the Syros EV an ARAI-certified MIDC Full range of 526 km, making it the first model in its claimed segment to cross the 500 km mark.
Kia has also confirmed a maximum power output of 171 PS for the Extended Range version. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds when equipped with the larger battery.
The battery is IP67-rated and uses a liquid-cooled thermal management system developed to support operation across varying Indian weather conditions.
Charging Time and AC Charging Support
The Syros EV supports DC fast charging at up to 100 kW. Kia claims the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 39 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
A battery-conditioning system adjusts the battery temperature before fast charging, which should help deliver more consistent charging performance.
The vehicle also supports an up to 10.8 kW onboard AC charger, which could reduce charging time when connected to a compatible home or destination charger.
Regenerative Braking and EV-Specific Features
Kia has equipped the Syros EV with multiple electric vehicle-focused technologies, including:
Paddle-operated regenerative braking
Automatic regenerative braking mode
i-Pedal single-pedal driving
Internal Vehicle-to-Load functionality
Battery heating system
Digital Key
Virtual Engine Sound System
Column-mounted shift-by-wire selector
The Vehicle-to-Load feature allows users to operate compatible electrical equipment using energy stored in the vehicle’s battery.
Kia’s Battery Warranty and Buyback Programme
A major part of the Syros EV proposition is its ownership package. Kia is offering a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty, although the company’s terms define “lifetime” as 15 years.
The electric SUV will also be supported by an Assured Buyback programme designed to provide greater clarity on future resale value.
Kia’s Battery-as-a-Service programme will offer financing structures intended to reduce the initial acquisition cost. The exact BaaS pricing, monthly subscription amount and battery ownership terms are expected to be detailed closer to the price announcement.
Together, the warranty, buyback and BaaS programmes address three common concerns among EV buyers: battery durability, resale value and high upfront purchase cost.
K-Charge Network Offers Access to Over 20,300 Charging Points
The Syros EV will be supported by Kia’s K-Charge ecosystem through the MyKia application.
According to Kia, the platform integrates more than 20,300 charging points operated by 23 charge-point operators. Customers will be able to locate chargers, plan routes and pay through a common wallet.
Kia also says more than 129 of its dealerships have high-capacity DC chargers, while over 275 workshops are equipped to support electric vehicles.
This integrated network could become an important advantage for Syros EV buyers, particularly those who frequently travel between cities or depend on public charging infrastructure.
Exterior Design
The Syros EV retains the upright and boxy proportions of the petrol-powered Syros but introduces several EV-specific styling elements.
At the front, it receives Kia’s Digital Tiger Face design, Star Map LED daytime running lamps and Ice Cube MFR LED headlamps. Front LED fog lamps are offered as standard.
Other exterior highlights include:
Flush-style automatic door handles
17-inch dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels
16-inch wheel option on selected variants
Gloss-black front and rear skid plates with aerodynamic inserts
Gloss-black roof rails
EV-specific side garnishes
Star Map LED tail lamps
The design appears to prioritise cabin space and road presence rather than adopting the low-slung appearance seen on some crossover-style electric vehicles.
Interior and 30-Inch Trinity Display
The Syros EV features a wide dashboard display arrangement measuring a combined 30 inches.
The Trinity Panoramic Display integrates:
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
5-inch climate-control interface
The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Kia Connect 2.0 offers more than 95 connected-car functions, while over-the-air software updates allow compatible systems to be updated remotely.
Higher variants will also receive an eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and a wireless smartphone charger.
Rear Seat Space and Comfort Features
The Syros has been positioned as a space-focused compact SUV, and the EV retains many of the model’s practical cabin features.
The rear seats offer a 60:40 split configuration along with sliding and reclining functions. This allows occupants to adjust rear legroom and luggage space depending on the journey.
Key comfort and convenience equipment includes:
Ventilated front-seat base and backrest
Ventilated rear-seat base
Four-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat
Dual-pane panoramic sunroof
64-colour ambient lighting
LED footwell illumination
Dual-camera dashboard camera
Rear-door sunshades
Multiple USB Type-C ports
100W front USB-C charging port
16-litre front storage compartment
The ventilated rear seats could become one of the Syros EV’s key differentiators, as this feature remains uncommon in the compact SUV segment.
Level 2 ADAS and Safety Features
The Kia Syros EV will be equipped with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System offering 16 autonomous functions.
The ADAS package includes:
Forward collision-avoidance assistance
Pedestrian and cyclist detection
Junction-turning collision assistance
Smart cruise control with stop-and-go
Lane-keeping assistance
Lane-following assistance
Driver-attention warning
High-beam assistance
Leading-vehicle departure alert
Parking assistance features include a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, reverse parking collision avoidance and front, rear and side parking sensors.
The SUV also comes with 25 standard safety features, including six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assistance, brake assist, tyre-
pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and rear-occupant alert. All-wheel disc brakes and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold will also be offered.
Kia Syros EV Variants
The Syros EV will be offered in seven variants across the two battery options.
42 kWh Battery
HTK
HTK+
HTX
51.4 kWh Extended Range Battery
HTK+ ER
HTX ER
HTX+ ER
X-Line ER
The Extended Range battery will therefore be available from the HTK+ trim onwards, while the sportier X-Line will be reserved for the larger battery configuration.
Colour Options
Kia will offer the Syros EV in nine exterior colour options:
Glacier White Pearl
Frost Blue
Gravity Grey
Pewter Olive
Magma Red
Ivory Silver Matte
Ivory Silver Gloss
Aurora Black Pearl
Xclusive Matte Graphite with Aurora Black Pearl for the X-Line ER
Interior themes will include Cloud Blue and Grey, Onyx Black and Off-White, and an X-Line-specific Onyx Black and Hunter Green combination.
Expected Price and Competition
Kia has not announced the Syros EV’s prices yet. However, the model is expected to be positioned between mainstream compact electric SUVs and larger electric crossovers.
Its closest rivals are likely to include the:
Tata Nexon EV
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
MG Windsor EV
Tata Punch EV
Entry-level variants of the Tata Curvv EV
The final positioning will depend heavily on the starting price of the 42 kWh version and the premium charged for the 51.4 kWh Extended Range models.
A competitive introductory price could help the Syros EV appeal to family buyers looking for a spacious electric SUV without moving into the significantly more expensive premium-EV category.
Auto Punditz Analysis
The Syros EV is not relying on range alone to stand out. Its strongest proposition is the combination of a 526 km certified range, practical rear-seat packaging, fast charging and an ownership programme designed to reduce long-term risk.
The Lifetime Battery Warranty, Assured Buyback and Battery-as-a-Service options show that Kia is addressing the financial and psychological barriers that continue to affect EV adoption in India.
At the same time, the success of the Syros EV will depend on real-world efficiency, BaaS conditions and pricing. A 526 km ARAI-certified figure is impressive, but buyers will ultimately evaluate how much range the vehicle delivers in highway driving, summer conditions and regular city use.
With bookings already open, the focus will now shift to the price announcement. Should Kia price the Syros EV aggressively, it could emerge as one of the more compelling family-oriented electric SUVs in the Indian market.
