Maruti Suzuki is preparing a major update for the Brezza, and this facelift could be more than just a cosmetic refresh. The 2026 Brezza facelift is expected to bring three important upgrades — a new turbo-petrol engine option, ventilated front seats and an underbody-mounted CNG setup.
According to recent reports, the updated Brezza could receive Maruti Suzuki’s 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, the same unit currently offered on the Fronx. In the Fronx, this 998 cc turbo engine produces around 99 bhp and 147.6 Nm, paired with manual and automatic gearbox options. The move would mark a significant shift for the Brezza, which currently relies on the 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 103 bhp and 139 Nm.

Why The Turbo Petrol Matters
The Brezza has always been one of Maruti Suzuki’s most dependable compact SUVs, but rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO have used turbo-petrol engines to attract buyers looking for stronger performance. A Boosterjet option would help Maruti position the Brezza more competitively without disturbing its core family-SUV appeal.
The sub-1.2-litre displacement of the 1.0-litre turbo engine could also help Maruti benefit from India’s small-car tax structure, while giving buyers a sportier alternative to the existing 1.5-litre petrol motor.
Underbody CNG Could Solve A Big Practicality Problem
The other major update expected on the Brezza facelift is an underbody-mounted CNG tank. Current CNG cars usually compromise boot space because the cylinder sits inside the luggage area. An underbody setup would free up usable boot space, making the Brezza CNG much more practical for family buyers and high-running users.
This becomes especially relevant at a time when CNG demand remains strong. Maruti Suzuki recently saw a sharp rise in CNG bookings, helped by higher fuel prices and growing demand for lower running costs.
Feature Upgrade: Ventilated Seats Expected
The updated Brezza is also expected to get ventilated front seats, a feature that has become increasingly popular in India’s hot climate. Rivals in the compact SUV space have already started offering more premium comfort features, and this addition would help the Brezza feel more upmarket.
Other expected updates may include revised bumpers, new grille design, updated LED lighting, fresh alloy wheels, a larger infotainment screen and possible interior trim changes. However, Maruti Suzuki has not officially confirmed the final feature list yet.
Sales Context: Brezza Needs Fresh Momentum
The Brezza remains an important volume product for Maruti Suzuki, but its recent performance shows why an update is timely. In May 2026, the Brezza sold 13,425 units, down 14% year-on-year, even as Maruti Suzuki’s overall domestic passenger vehicle sales grew strongly.
With the compact SUV segment getting more competitive, the facelift could help Maruti bring fresh attention back to the Brezza. The addition of turbo-petrol performance, better CNG practicality and premium comfort features may widen its appeal across both city buyers and value-conscious family users.
Expected Launch & Rivals
The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift is expected to launch on 23rd July 2026, though official confirmation is awaited. Once launched, it will continue to rival the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq and Nissan Magnite.
Auto Punditz Take
The Brezza facelift could be one of Maruti Suzuki’s most important updates of 2026. The current Brezza already has strong brand trust, wide service reach and proven fuel efficiency. But the facelift needs to address two key gaps — performance perception and feature richness.
If Maruti manages to price the turbo-petrol variants smartly and offer the underbody CNG setup without a major premium, the Brezza could regain stronger momentum in the compact SUV segment.
