Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has attained sales of 300,000 units and is the fastest in the Executive sedan segment. Some trivial points about Ciaz -
Suzuki developed Ciaz to replace the SX4 sedan in several Asian, African, and Latin American markets. It went on sale for the first time in India, the largest market for Suzuki in September 2014.
The Ciaz name stands for Comfort, Intelligence, Attitude, and Zeal, or City from A to Z
Ciaz earlier sold in Maruti Suzuki showrooms; was later shifted to the Nexa channel.
It took 84 months for Ciaz to cross the 3 Lakh units sales milestone. While Honda's City achieved the milestone in 144 months and Hyundai's Verna in 115 months!
Interestingly in a similar timeline (Sep'14 - to date) - Honda City has sold over 3.36 Lakh units and Verna over 1.72 Lakh units.
Speaking on the milestone, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Since its launch in 2014, Ciaz has redefined the segment with its class-leading space, design and sophistication & has witnessed a resounding success in the highly competitive premium sedan segment. The milestone of 3 Lakh sales demonstrates customer’s faith and confidence in the brand”.
Ciaz has been able to give tough competition to the other cars in the segment and has also been the segment leader in many months since the launch.
