Maruti Suzuki Starts Production at 4th Hansalpur Plant, Gujarat Capacity Reaches 1 Million Units Annually

Maruti Suzuki India has achieved another significant manufacturing milestone by commencing commercial production at Plant-D, the fourth production line at its Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat, on 30 July 2026. The new production line adds 250,000 units of annual capacity, taking the plant's total installed production capability from 750,000 units to 1 million vehicles per annum.
The start of production also makes Hansalpur Maruti Suzuki's largest manufacturing site in India, overtaking the Manesar facility, which has an annual capacity of 900,000 units.
Hansalpur Becomes Maruti Suzuki's Biggest Manufacturing Hub
The Gujarat facility has become increasingly important for Maruti Suzuki's domestic and global strategy. Apart from producing high-volume passenger vehicles, Hansalpur also serves as the global manufacturing hub for the e Vitara electric SUV, which is exported to over 100 international markets.
With Plant-D now operational, the company's manufacturing capacity across India stands at approximately 2.9 million units annually, distributed as follows:

Gujarat Emerging as Maruti's Manufacturing Powerhouse
The latest development further strengthens Gujarat's position within Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing network.
Alongside the expanded Hansalpur facility, the company is also developing another large manufacturing complex at Sanand, which will eventually have a capacity of 1 million units per year. Once operational, Maruti Suzuki's total manufacturing capacity in Gujarat alone will reach 2 million vehicles annually, highlighting the state's growing importance for both domestic production and exports.
