Maruti Suzuki Sales August 2026: Dispatches Rise 35% YoY to 1,76,971 Units; Wagon R Leads

Maruti Suzuki recorded 1,76,971 units in domestic passenger vehicle dispatches in August 2026, registering 35% year-on-year growth over 1,31,278 units in August 2025. However, volumes declined 10% month-on-month from 1,96,203 units in July 2026.

The Wagon R topped Maruti Suzuki’s sales chart, followed by the Swift and Fronx.

While most models registered annual growth, the sequential picture was softer, with only Brezza, Victoris, Jimny and S-Presso posting gains over July. The figures represent manufacturer dispatches to dealers rather than retail registrations.

  • Wagon R recorded 20,180 units, growing 39% over August 2025 despite a 14% decline from July. It was the only Maruti Suzuki model to cross the 20,000-unit mark during the month.

  • Swift followed closely with 19,832 units, just 348 units behind the Wagon R. Dispatches increased 60% year-on-year, making it one of the strongest annual growth contributors among Maruti’s high-volume models. Compared with July, however, Swift volumes fell 8%.

  • Fronx secured third position with 18,730 units, up 51% year-on-year and down a relatively modest 4% month-on-month.

  • Ertiga registered 18,516 units, broadly unchanged from 18,445 units a year earlier. Monthly dispatches declined 14% from July’s 21,606 units.

  • Dzire recorded 18,418 units, an increase of 12% year-on-year. Its 23% sequential decline was steeper, translating into 5,373 fewer units than July—the largest absolute monthly drop among the listed models.

  • Together, Wagon R, Swift, Fronx, Ertiga and Dzire contributed 95,676 units, accounting for approximately 54% of Maruti Suzuki’s August dispatches.

  • Brezza was a standout sequential performer, with dispatches increasing 27% to 15,288 units from 12,055 units in July. Annual growth stood at 12%.

  • Victoris recorded 12,978 units, growing 15% over July’s 11,334 units. With no dispatches recorded in the corresponding month last year, a conventional year-on-year growth percentage is not applicable.

  • Grand Vitara posted 7,808 units, up 36% year-on-year but down 4% month-on-month. Meanwhile, eVitara dispatches stood at 1,586 units, compared with 1,675 units in July—a decline of 5%.

  • Baleno recorded 15,746 units, gaining 25% over August 2025 while declining 14% from July.

  • Alto grew 57% year-on-year to 8,692 units, but its 31% monthly decline was the sharpest percentage drop among models with comparable July dispatches.

  • Celerio nearly doubled its year-ago volume, rising 99% to 2,990 units from 1,505 units. However, dispatches fell 24% month-on-month.

  • Eeco registered 11,961 units, up 11% year-on-year and down 14% month-on-month. The XL6 recorded 3,339 units, growing 12% annually while declining 12% sequentially.

AutoPunditz Take

Maruti Suzuki’s August performance combined strong annual growth with a broad monthly slowdown. Total dispatches increased by 45,693 units over August 2025 but fell by 19,232 units compared with July 2026.

Wagon R and Swift remained major volume drivers, while Fronx added substantial annual growth. Brezza and Victoris provided the clearest sequential support, together adding 4,877 units over July.

The key takeaway is that the 35% headline growth needs to be read alongside the 10% monthly decline. Maruti’s core models continued to deliver substantial volumes, but dispatch data alone cannot establish whether the monthly moderation reflects changes in retail demand or dealer inventory planning.
