MG Motors had launched the ZS Electric Vehicle at an introductory price of Rs 20.88 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and has already received over 3,000 bookings to date. The bookings received by the Chinese automaker was nothing less than enthralling and has also given a hope that buyers are swiftly accepting EV models.
Hyundai Kona was the firstmover in the SUV EV space and the vehicle is currently priced at Rs 23.71 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hence; in terms of price Kona is almost Rs.3 Lakhs costlier than the MG’s offering. In terms of space and features too; ZS EV has an upperhand over the Kona. Even though the supply of the ZS EV was affected due to the disruption in supply chain because of Corona behemoth; 158 units dispatch in the first month of launch is a positive sign. It was almost 5 times more than what Hyundai could dispatch the Kona EVs (32 units). We now just hope that Mass Market EVs are launched on priority to cater to increasing customer base that wants to opt for an Electric Vehicle – It’s a matter of time on who takes the lead.
