Suzuki Jimny GOZEL Body Kit Approved In Japan – Could Maruti Bring It To India?

The Suzuki Jimny has become one of the world's most celebrated compact off-roaders, and now it is getting an even more rugged factory-approved makeover. Suzuki has officially introduced the GOZEL styling package for the Jimny Sierra and Jimny Nomade (5-door) in Japan, making the aggressive body kit available through its nationwide dealer network as an officially recommended accessory.

The development is particularly interesting for Indian enthusiasts because the Maruti Suzuki Jimny sold in India is based on the same 5-door platform as the Japanese Jimny Nomade, raising the possibility that similar accessories could eventually make their way to the Indian market.

The GOZEL package gives the Suzuki Jimny a more rugged appearance through dealer-approved exterior accessories.

What Is The GOZEL Package?

Rather than being a completely new variant, GOZEL is a premium exterior styling package developed by AWIN, one of Suzuki's long-time accessory partners. Suzuki has now included these components under its "Suzuki Select Plus" accessories catalogue, allowing customers to purchase them directly through dealerships. (Suzuki)

The package includes:

  • Front bumper upper garnish

  • Front bumper lower garnish

  • Side under garnish

  • Rear bumper under garnish

  • GOZEL spare wheel cover

Combined with Suzuki's genuine accessories such as the redesigned grille and mud flaps, the package transforms the Jimny into a more adventure-focused SUV without altering its mechanical hardware.

Inspired By The Monster Hunter Wilds Edition

The GOZEL accessories are not entirely new.

They first appeared on the Jimny Nomade Monster Hunter Wilds Edition, showcased at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon. The concept received a highly positive response, prompting Suzuki to approve a production version of the styling package.

Unlike aftermarket conversions, these parts are now backed by Suzuki's dealer network, giving buyers an OEM-supported customization option.

Could Maruti Suzuki Offer It In India?

There has been no official confirmation from Maruti Suzuki India regarding the GOZEL package.

However, several factors make it a realistic possibility:

Shared Platform

India manufactures the same five-door Jimny architecture that underpins the Japanese Jimny Nomade, meaning compatibility is unlikely to be a major hurdle.

Growing Personalisation Market

Indian SUV buyers are increasingly spending on accessories, with brands including Mahindra, Tata Motors and Toyota expanding their official customization catalogues.

Premium Accessory Opportunity

The Jimny remains a niche lifestyle SUV rather than a high-volume product. Factory-approved styling kits could help Maruti improve customer engagement while increasing accessory revenue without investing in a new variant.

What Could Change For India?

If introduced locally, Maruti Suzuki may:

  • Localize the body kit to reduce costs.

  • Offer individual accessories instead of a bundled package.

  • Include GOZEL parts under its Genuine Accessories catalogue.

  • Launch the package alongside a special edition Jimny.

This strategy would be similar to how manufacturers periodically introduce cosmetic editions to keep enthusiast interest alive between major product updates.

Why It Matters

Although the Jimny has built a loyal fan base in India, many owners currently rely on aftermarket suppliers for rugged styling modifications.

An officially supported body kit would provide:

  • Better fit and finish

  • Dealer-backed installation

  • Warranty compatibility

  • Improved resale confidence

It would also strengthen the Jimny's positioning as one of India's few authentic ladder-frame lifestyle SUVs.

Auto Punditz Verdict

The GOZEL package demonstrates Suzuki's continued commitment to keeping the Jimny fresh nearly a decade after the current generation debuted. By offering a factory-approved rugged styling kit, Suzuki is tapping into the growing demand for personalization without changing the vehicle's proven mechanical formula.

For India, the business case is compelling. Since Maruti already manufactures the five-door Jimny platform, introducing GOZEL-inspired accessories could be a relatively low-cost way to boost the SUV's appeal among enthusiasts. While there is no confirmation yet, the shared architecture and increasing demand for premium OEM accessories make the possibility worth watching closely.
