Tata Motors is preparing to unveil the new Aeris on September 25, 2026. Expected to replace the long-running Tigor nameplate, the upcoming sub-four-metre sedan appears set to receive far more than a routine facelift. Recent teasers and design-patent images indicate a substantially redesigned exterior, a more modern cabin and the continuation of petrol, CNG and electric powertrain options.
Importantly, the latest images circulating online are independent renderings based on Tata's teaser and patent drawings. They are not official production images, and some details may differ when the car is fully revealed.
Tata Aeris Gets a New Identity
The Aeris is expected to become the new face of Tata's compact-sedan range, effectively succeeding the Tigor. The change in name suggests that Tata Motors wants to reposition the model rather than market it as another incremental Tigor update.
That strategy is understandable. The Tigor has been on sale since 2017, while competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura have continued to evolve. A new identity gives Tata an opportunity to refresh customer perception while retaining the basic strengths of its existing sedan platform.
Sharper Front-End Design
The teaser and patent-based renderings point to a noticeably sleeker front fascia. Slim LED headlamps appear to be linked by a black trim element, while pixel-style LED fog lamps add a more contemporary Tata-family signature.
The bumper is expected to feature C-shaped detailing and a wide lower air intake. These changes could make the Aeris look visually broader and more upmarket than the outgoing Tigor. The redesign may also involve new sheet metal rather than being limited to revised bumpers and lighting elements.

The Aeris EV is expected to receive subtle EV-specific styling details, although Tata has not yet confirmed the final differentiation between the internal-combustion and electric versions.
Expected Interior and Features
The Aeris could adopt a cabin layout similar to the latest Tiago, including a binnacle-less digital instrument display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Expected equipment includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, connected-car technology and a 360-degree camera.
Other likely features include automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, USB Type-C charging ports and electrically adjustable, folding outside mirrors. The final feature distribution will depend on the variant structure announced at launch.
Petrol, CNG and EV Versions Expected
The Aeris is likely to retain the current Tigor's 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. Manual and AMT gearbox choices are expected, along with a factory-fitted CNG option.
An electric derivative is also expected to continue the Tigor EV's role in Tata's portfolio. Reports indicate that it could retain a 26kWh battery and a front-mounted electric motor, though Tata Motors has not yet announced the Aeris EV's official specifications, range or launch timeline.
