Tata Motors recorded domestic dispatches of 15,180 units in May 2021 and Nexon finished as the top-seller ahead of Tiago and Altroz.
Tata Motors garnered cumulative dispatches of 15,180 units in the month of May 2021 as against 25,096 units in April 2021 with an MoM volume de-growth of 40 percent. During the same period last year, there were nationwide restrictions due to Covid 19 and the base was much low. Hence, the YoY comparison shall not make sense.
Nexon emerged as the best-selling within the brand’s domestic portfolio as 6,439 units were sold. Since the launch of the Nexon facelift in early 2020, the volume of the Nexon continued to increase substantially and has been consistent all along in the Sub-4m Compact SUV space. It also emerged as the second best-selling Compact SUV for May 2021 (source).
The Altroz premium hatch made its debut the early last year, and it has become a strong contender against Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20. The model is able to place itself as the second bestseller in Tata's lineup quite consistently. Around 2,896 units were dispatched in May 2021 and the model recorded 110 percent YoY growth and 56 percent MoM degrowth.
Tiago was one of the most important models in Tata Motors portfolio which helped the OEM make a successful comeback in the Indian market. It posted 2,582 unit sales in the month of May 2021 and stood third on the list.
Surprisingly Safari outsold Harrier in May 2021 and was also the segment bestseller. Safari singlehandedly outsold Hector and Hector Plus twins combined in May 2021 (source). Safari was also the sole model to post an MoM growth -
Harrier dispatches stood at 1,360 units and the model ranked fifth in Tata's lineup.
Tigor ranked last with shipments of 367 units.
