Top 25 Exported Cars in H1 FY2027: Fronx Leads, Jimny Closes In
Maruti Suzuki Fronx topped India’s model-wise car export rankings in April–September 2026, narrowly ahead of the Jimny. Hyundai Grand i10 secured third place, while the eVitara recorded strong growth.
The top 25 exported car models recorded combined shipments of 4,00,512 units in H1 FY2027, compared with 3,87,137 units in H1 FY2026, registering 3.5% year-on-year growth.
Performance varied considerably across models. While the Jimny, Dzire and eVitara delivered substantial volume gains, established export contributors such as the Swift, Verna and Baleno witnessed declines. Of the 25 models listed, 14 registered growth and 11 recorded lower shipments.
Top 25 Exported Cars: H1 FY2027
Maruti Suzuki Fronx retained the leading position in the supplied rankings, with exports of 46,147 units, up 1.8% from 45,348 units a year earlier.
Jimny was a much faster-growing contender. Its shipments increased 47.7% to 45,183 units, adding 14,584 units over the corresponding period last year. This brought it within just 964 units of the Fronx.
Together, these two models contributed 91,330 units, accounting for 22.8% of the listed top 25’s combined exports.
Hyundai’s Grand i10 ranked third, with exports rising 10.2% to 29,332 units. It was Hyundai’s highest-volume model in the table.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire followed in fourth place, recording 25,502 units, a 35.4% increase over 18,840 units. Its additional 6,662 units helped it finish ahead of the Hyundai Verna.
Verna’s shipments declined 27.5% to 23,696 units, while the Hyundai Aura fell 11.1% to 19,651 units. Volkswagen Virtus exports also contracted, dropping 17.8% to 16,680 units.
Sedans therefore remained significant export contributors, although their performance was mixed.
Maruti Suzuki eVitara ranked sixth, with exports increasing from 6,042 units to 21,841 units, representing 261.5% growth. Its 15,799-unit increase was the largest absolute gain among the models listed, ahead of the Jimny’s 14,584-unit improvement.
eVitara also finished narrowly ahead of the Nissan Magnite, which recorded 21,782 units, down 10.1%. Just 59 units separated the two models.
Meanwhile, Victoris contributed 10,710 units, placing it 15th.
Maruti Suzuki had 11 models in the rankings, including five of the top eight. These models collectively contributed 2,23,897 units, equivalent to 55.9% of the listed top 25’s volume.
However, growth was uneven across its portfolio:
Ertiga: Up 57.2% to 15,118 units.
Alto: Up 66.3% to 5,431 units.
Celerio: Up 8.5% to 11,160 units.
Swift: Down 32.2% to 20,173 units.
Baleno: Down 33.7% to 14,896 units.
S-Presso: Down 48.7% to 7,736 units.
The numbers show how gains from the Jimny, eVitara, Dzire and Ertiga helped offset weaker shipments from several other models.
Hyundai Venue registered 74.4% growth, reaching 7,063 units. Kia also recorded gains for the Seltos, up 50.7% to 4,882 units, and Carens, up 24.1% to 4,771 units. However, Sonet shipments declined 12.2% to 5,781 units.
Honda’s two listed models posted moderate improvements. Elevate exports rose 6.3% to 8,121 units, while the City grew 9.8% to 5,553 units.
Toyota Hyryder and Mahindra XUV 3XO exports each declined approximately 12%, to 16,534 units and 6,458 units, respectively.
Nissan Sunny recorded the steepest percentage decline in the table, falling 52.8% to 6,311 units from 13,379 units.

Auto Punditz Take
The headline 3.5% growth across these 25 models masks a substantial shift in export contribution. The eVitara and Jimny together added 30,383 units, comfortably exceeding the group’s net increase of 13,375 units.
Maruti Suzuki’s breadth stands out, but the results also underline the importance of individual model performance. Strong gains from a handful of vehicles supported overall growth while several sizeable export nameplates contracted. For the next half-year, the closest contest is at the top: with fewer than 1,000 units separating the Fronx and Jimny, the race for export leadership remains tight.
