Top 25 Selling Cars in India for July 2021

The Top 25 Selling Cars constituted almost 80% of the cars sold in July 2021. It had 10 models from Maruti, 5 from Hyundai, 3 from Tata & Mahindra, 2 from Kia, and 1 each from Nissan & Toyota. In terms of volumes, Maruti Suzuki models contributed to over 54 percent volumes in the Top 25!

OEMwise Count in the Top 25 selling cars -

  • Maruti had 10 models in the Top 25. On average; the volumes were 12,651 units/car.

  • Hyundai had 5 models in the Top 25 and averaged 8,223 units per model.

  • Tata with 3 models in the list averaged 8,020 units per model.

  • Kia had 2 offerings in the Top 25 and averaged 7,329 per model (which is now surprisingly lower than Tata).

  • M&M even with three models fared below Kia & Tata as per model average was 5,458 units.

Also find mentioned the Body Style Count in the Top 25 -

  • Hatchbacks dominated with 9 models in the Top 25 and volumes of over 1.05L units.

  • SUVs matched Hatchbacks with 9 models and MUVs had 4 models in the Top 25. Overall UVs had 13 models on the list!

  • Sedans had only 2 offerings in the Top 25 and were Sub-4m Compact Sedan - Maruti Dzire & Hyundai Xcent.

The Top 25 Selling Cars of July 2021 are as shown below -

  • 8 out of the Top 10 cars came from Maruti's stable. Maruti's Wagon-R dethroned the siblings Swift and Alto to retain the Top Slot in model-wise rank for July 2021. We had earlier shared the success of Wagon R CNG variants and how it emerged as the best-selling CNG car in India too (source).

  • Hyundai had 5 models faring in the Top 25 cars. Creta ranked fourth in the table and became the best-selling SUV for July 2021! Creta was closely followed by Grand i10 Nios with dispatches of 9,379 units and the model grew 12 percent over July 2020 as well.

  • Hyundai continues its dominance in the SUV segment - Had Creta as the segment leader of the SUV Segment in July 2021 and crossed 13k units. Also, Venue and Alcazar sales supported accordingly.

  • Tata Nexon and Altroz did stellar volumes and ranked 9th and 15th in the list. Nexon recorded dispatches of over 10k units and emerged as the best-selling Compact SUV of July 2021. Tata Nexon crossed 10k unit dispatches for the first time in its lifetime!

  • The other homegrown Indian MNC Mahindra too had 3 models on the list (Bolero, XUV300 & Scorpio). Mahindra was also able to hold its fourth position in manufacturer rankings in July 2021 (source).
