Two-Wheeler Sales March 2026: Strong Growth Momentum Led by Honda, TVS & Yamaha

India’s two-wheeler market continued its strong recovery trajectory in March 2026, closing the fiscal year on a high note. Total domestic dispatches stood at 19.76 lakh units, marking a robust 19.3% year-on-year (YoY) growth and a healthy 5.6% month-on-month (MoM) increase.

The growth was broad-based, with most OEMs reporting double-digit gains, although market share shifts indicate intensifying competition at the top.

  • Hero MotoCorp retained its leadership position with 5.52 lakh units, registering 8.5% YoY growth and 6.9% MoM growth. However, the company saw a market share decline of 2.77%, dropping from 30.73% to 27.96%, indicating that competitors are catching up faster.

  • Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India delivered a stellar performance with 5.12 lakh units, growing 27.6% YoY. Despite a marginal 0.2% MoM dip, Honda gained significant traction, increasing its market share by 1.7% to 25.92%. Honda is now much closer to the top spot, intensifying the battle for leadership.

  • TVS Motor Company posted 3.72 lakh units, up 25.1% YoY and 1.9% MoM. Its market share improved to 18.84%, reflecting consistent growth across segments.

  • Bajaj Auto recorded 2.21 lakh units, with 20.3% YoY growth and a strong 18.7% MoM jump. Market share remained stable at 11.18%, showing steady momentum.

  • Suzuki Motorcycle India saw a slight YoY decline of 0.5%, though MoM growth was 4.3%. Market share dropped to 5.33%.

  • Royal Enfield crossed the 1 lakh mark, growing 14% YoY and 10% MoM, but its share dipped marginally.

  • Yamaha Motor India stood out with a sharp 52.4% YoY growth, supported by 14.7% MoM gains, and increased its share to 3.89%.

  • Ather Energy continued its strong EV push with 82.4% YoY growth, reaching 30,697 units and gaining 0.54% market share.

  • Piaggio India and premium brands like Kawasaki India and Triumph Motorcycles India showed steady but niche volumes.

With FY2026 closing on a strong note, the two-wheeler industry enters FY2027 with positive momentum. Key factors to watch include EV adoption acceleration, Rural demand sustainability and New product launches across ICE and EV segments. The competitive intensity at the top, especially between Hero and Honda, is expected to define the coming months.
