Ultraviolette Announces $85 Million Funding Round; Tesseract, Production Expansion and US Entry in Focus
Ultraviolette has announced an $85 million funding round to expand production, develop new electric vehicle platforms and support its international growth plans. The investment comes as the Bengaluru-based company prepares to broaden its portfolio beyond its existing electric motorcycles.
The round is led by deep-tech investment firm Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, with participation from existing investors and Lip-Bu Tan, chairman of Walden International. Tan is also joining Ultraviolette as an adviser.
Alongside its F77 and X-47 Crossover motorcycles, Ultraviolette is preparing to introduce the Tesseract scooter and Shockwave enduro motorcycle. The fresh funding will support production across these four products and investment in future platforms.

Tesseract and Shockwave Broaden the Product Strategy
The funding will help Ultraviolette increase production of the F77 and X-47 while preparing for its next two products.
The Tesseract scooter is particularly relevant to the company’s growth strategy. Entering scooters will allow Ultraviolette to address a different set of buyers and usage requirements from those served by its performance motorcycles.
In the release, Yali Capital founding managing partner Ganapathy Subramaniam refers to the Tesseract launching early next year, indicating early 2027. The announcement does not specify an exact launch date.
The Shockwave enduro motorcycle will add another category to the portfolio. However, the funding release does not provide a launch or delivery schedule for this model.
For Ultraviolette, these additions will increase the demands on manufacturing, component sourcing and after-sales support as the company serves a wider customer base.
Manufacturing Expansion Targets Up to 5 Lakh Vehicles Annually
The investment follows Ultraviolette’s announcement of a new manufacturing facility intended to scale to 500,000 vehicles annually.
This represents the planned scale of the facility. It is not the company’s current output or an annual sales forecast. The funding announcement does not provide a detailed commissioning schedule or production ramp-up plan.
The commercial challenge will be matching capacity expansion with product availability and customer demand. A larger factory creates room for growth, but its utilisation will depend on how successfully the company brings its upcoming models to market.
Production quality, spare-parts availability and service coverage will also become increasingly important as volumes rise.
Fresh Investment in Future EV Platforms
Ultraviolette will also direct capital towards its next generation of global electric vehicle platforms.
The company identifies battery technology, power electronics, vehicle architecture and intelligent software as areas where it has developed in-house capabilities. It says its engineering expertise spans battery architectures ranging from 48V to 400V, allowing platforms to be designed around different performance, range, thermal-management and packaging requirements.
From a business perspective, applying this engineering base across several products could help spread development costs and support a broader portfolio. However, the announcement does not quantify potential cost savings or specify how much of the funding will be allocated to platform development.
The stated voltage range also does not confirm any additional production model beyond those named in the release.
US Entry Targeted for 2027
Ultraviolette says it currently retails in India and 20 European countries. Its next phase of international expansion includes a planned entry into the United States in 2027, alongside growth across Latin America and Southeast Asia.
The company has not disclosed its proposed US model lineup, pricing or distribution arrangements in this announcement. The 2027 timeline remains a target.
Overseas markets could provide additional demand for Ultraviolette’s products, but expansion will also require investment in approvals, distribution, servicing and customer support. Managing these requirements alongside domestic product launches will be an important part of the company’s next growth phase.
Auto Punditz Take
The $85 million round supports Ultraviolette’s move towards a broader product range and a larger international business. The Tesseract is central to that transition because it brings the company into a different usage segment from its existing motorcycles.
The next milestones to watch are launch and delivery schedules, the manufacturing ramp-up, service-network expansion and concrete details of the planned US entry. These will show how effectively the funding translates into vehicles delivered and customers supported.
Ultraviolette has outlined where the capital will go. Its progress will now depend on bringing those product, manufacturing and distribution plans together at a commercially sustainable pace.
