Honda appears to be preparing the first major update for the Elevate since the midsize SUV entered the Indian market in 2023. A camouflaged test vehicle has reportedly been seen undergoing road trials, suggesting that the refreshed Honda Elevate could reach showrooms sometime in the second half of 2026.
The upcoming model is unlikely to be a complete overhaul. Instead, Honda is expected to update the Elevate’s exterior design, cabin technology and equipment list while retaining its existing platform and petrol engine.

Exterior Design Likely to Receive Subtle Changes
Despite the camouflage, the test vehicle continues to carry the Elevate’s familiar upright profile. Its flat bonnet, tall stance, conventional door handles and squared-off proportions appear largely unchanged.
Most of the styling revisions are therefore expected at the front and rear. Honda could introduce a redesigned grille, updated bumper and revised LED lighting elements. Changes to the rear bumper and tail-lamp graphics are also possible. New alloy-wheel designs and additional exterior colours may further differentiate the facelifted model from the version currently on sale.
However, the Elevate’s overall dimensions are unlikely to change significantly. Its generous 220mm ground clearance, one of the highest in its segment, should also be retained.
More Features Could Be the Biggest Upgrade
The Elevate offers a spacious and practical cabin, but its equipment list is not as extensive as that of several competitors. Honda is likely to address this weakness through the facelift.
The refreshed SUV could receive a factory-fitted 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, an upgraded infotainment system and a more advanced digital instrument cluster. Honda may also introduce new interior colours, revised dashboard materials and additional charging ports.
A few of these features are currently available through Honda’s accessory catalogue. Bringing them into the factory-fitted equipment list would improve their integration and make the higher variants more competitive.
The existing Elevate is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof and connected-car technology.
Safety Package Expected to Be Strengthened
Higher variants of the current Elevate offer Honda Sensing, the brand’s camera-based advanced driver-assistance system.
Its functions include adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking, lane-keeping assistance, road-departure mitigation and automatic high beam. These features are expected to continue in the facelifted model.
Honda could also refine the system’s calibration and improve its compatibility with Indian road conditions. Six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child-seat mounts should remain part of the safety package.
A factory-installed 360-degree camera would be a particularly useful addition, considering the Elevate’s tall bonnet and relatively large dimensions.
Existing 1.5-Litre Petrol Engine Likely to Continue
The 2026 Honda Elevate facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine develops approximately 121PS and 145Nm and is paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. Paddle shifters are available with the automatic version.
Engine | Transmission options |
1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol | Six-speed manual |
1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol | CVT automatic |
The powertrain is known for smooth performance, predictable throttle response and relatively simple mechanical construction. These qualities appeal to buyers looking for long-term reliability rather than outright performance.
However, the absence of turbo-petrol, diesel and hybrid options restricts the Elevate’s ability to compete with rivals that offer a wider selection of powertrains.
Hybrid Version Remains Unlikely
Honda already sells strong-hybrid technology in India through the City e:HEV. This has led to speculation about a possible Elevate hybrid.
However, the upcoming facelift is unlikely to introduce an electrified powertrain. Honda may instead reserve its next-generation, more localised hybrid technology for future products. A hybrid Elevate could have been an effective rival to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. For now, the facelifted model is expected to continue exclusively with the 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Expected Launch and Pricing
Honda has not officially confirmed the launch schedule for the updated Elevate. Nevertheless, the appearance of a test vehicle suggests that market introduction could take place during the second half of 2026, potentially around the festive season.
The facelift is likely to attract a moderate price increase, especially if Honda adds more technology and safety equipment as standard.
The updated range could start at approximately ₹12 lakh, ex-showroom, although the final pricing will depend on the variant structure and equipment distribution.
Competition in the Midsize-SUV Segment
The Elevate competes in one of India’s most crowded passenger-vehicle segments. Its principal rivals include:
Hyundai Creta
Kia Seltos
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Skoda Kushaq
Volkswagen Taigun
MG Astor
Tata Curvv
Citroën Aircross
Many of these models offer turbocharged engines, hybrid powertrains, panoramic sunroofs, 360-degree cameras and larger digital displays. Honda will consequently need to improve the Elevate’s value proposition rather than depending only on cosmetic changes.
Why This Update Matters for Honda
The Elevate is an important product for Honda Cars India because it represents the company in the country’s largest and most competitive SUV category. The model’s strengths include a spacious interior, comfortable seating, a large luggage compartment, strong ground clearance and a proven petrol engine. However, buyers increasingly compare vehicles on the basis of technology, convenience features and cabin presentation.
The facelift gives Honda an opportunity to correct these shortcomings without changing the Elevate’s fundamental character.
The 2026 Honda Elevate facelift is likely to be an evolutionary update rather than a major reinvention. Honda does not necessarily need to alter the SUV’s mechanical package because the existing engine, cabin space and ride quality remain competitive. The more urgent requirement is to improve its equipment list and make the interior feel more contemporary.
Features such as a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, a better digital instrument cluster and an upgraded infotainment system could significantly improve the Elevate’s appeal.Nevertheless, the lack of an alternative powertrain may continue to be a limitation. While competitors are expanding their turbo-petrol, hybrid and electric offerings, the Elevate is expected to remain dependent on a single naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The success of the facelift will therefore depend on how effectively Honda balances additional features, pricing and long-term ownership value.
