Renault India has launched the refreshed 2026 Renault Kwid in India, with prices starting at ₹4.53 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The latest update brings minor exterior and interior changes to Renault’s entry-level hatchback, while the mechanical package remains unchanged.
The 2026 Kwid is now available in two trims — Evolution and Climber — with both 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. Renault has discontinued the earlier Authentic and Techno trims, simplifying the variant line-up for the new model.

2026 Renault Kwid Prices
Variant | 5-Speed Manual | 5-Speed AMT |
Evolution | ₹4.53 lakh | ₹4.90 lakh |
Climber | ₹5.15 lakh | ₹5.61 lakh |
All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Renault is also offering a retrofitted CNG kit with the manual variants at an additional cost of ₹70,450. The CNG kit will be installed through authorised workshops and comes with a 3-year/1 lakh km standard warranty, whichever is earlier.
What’s New In The 2026 Renault Kwid?
The 2026 Renault Kwid is more of a feature and design refresh rather than a full facelift. On the outside, the hatchback gets new 3D Renault badges, redesigned dual-tone wheel covers for the 14-inch steel wheels, and a revised Kwid lettering style on the tailgate.
The overall design, however, remains familiar. The eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, halogen headlamps, bumpers, tail-lamps, and crossover-inspired stance have been carried forward from the previous model.
Interior Updates
Inside, the biggest visible change is the new 3-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Renault Kiger. It also gets steering-mounted controls for infotainment functions.
Other cabin features remain largely unchanged. The Kwid continues with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster with MID, manual AC, all four power windows, and black fabric upholstery with yellow accents.
Safety Features
The safety package depends on the variant. The Evolution trim gets dual airbags, while the Climber trim gets six airbags. Other key safety features include ABS with EBD, rear parking camera with sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, seatbelt reminders, keyless entry with central locking, and hill start assist on AMT variants.
Engine And Gearbox
Mechanically, the 2026 Renault Kwid continues with the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces 69 hp and 92.5 Nm of torque and is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.
Dimensions Remain Unchanged
The Kwid continues to offer the same compact dimensions as before:
Specification | 2026 Renault Kwid |
Length | 3,731 mm |
Width | 1,579 mm |
Height | 1,474 mm |
Wheelbase | 2,422 mm |
Ground Clearance | 184 mm |
Boot Space | 279 litres |
The 184 mm ground clearance remains one of the Kwid’s practical strengths, especially for buyers looking for a small city car with SUV-inspired styling.
Market Positioning
The Renault Kwid continues to compete against entry-level hatchbacks such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. While the Alto K10 and S-Presso start at lower price points, the Kwid positions itself as a more SUV-styled alternative in the budget hatchback space.
The latest update also comes at an important time for Renault India. The company has announced a stronger product action plan for the Indian market, with 12 product-related updates planned over the next 18 months. Four of these are expected during the remainder of 2026.
AutoPunditz Take
The 2026 Renault Kwid update is not a major redesign, but it keeps the model relevant in the entry-level hatchback segment. The simplified two-trim line-up, lower pricing for some comparable trims, AMT availability, and optional retrofitted CNG kit should help
Renault appeal to budget-conscious urban buyers.
However, the Kwid now operates in a shrinking entry-level hatchback market, where affordability, safety, fuel efficiency, and brand reach matter more than ever. Renault’s challenge will be to convert this refresh into showroom footfalls, especially against Maruti Suzuki’s stronger network and deeper entry-car presence.
For buyers looking for a compact city hatchback with SUV-inspired styling, high ground clearance, touchscreen features, and AMT convenience, the 2026 Kwid remains a value-focused option.
