India’s 7-seater passenger vehicle segment recorded healthy growth in June 2026, supported by strong demand for family MPVs, rugged SUVs and newly introduced models. The segment clocked 78,640 units in June 2026, compared to 67,416 units in June 2025, registering a year-on-year growth of 16.6%.
The segment continues to remain highly competitive, with Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga retaining the top spot, while Mahindra emerged as the most dominant OEM with four models in the Top 7.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga topped the 7-seater sales chart in June 2026 with 16,111 units, compared to 14,151 units in June 2025. This translates to a 13.9% YoY growth. With a 20.5% segment share, the Ertiga alone contributed more than one-fifth of total 7-seater sales in India.
Mahindra Scorpio ranked second with 14,097 units in June 2026, up from 12,740 units a year earlier. The model registered a 10.7% YoY growth and captured 17.9% segment share.
Mahindra’s XUV7X0 secured the third position with 9,244 units, compared to 6,198 units in June 2025. This marked a sharp 49.1% YoY growth, making it one of the strongest performers among established models. The model held an 11.8% segment share, reflecting strong demand for premium 7-seater SUVs with advanced features, powerful engines and high road presence.
Mahindra Bolero ranked fourth with 9,115 units, up from 7,478 units in June 2025. It posted a 21.9% YoY growthand accounted for 11.6% segment share.
Toyota Innova + Hycross stood fifth with 7,332 units in June 2026. However, sales declined from 8,802 units in June 2025, resulting in a 16.7% YoY drop.
Kia Carens + Clavis recorded 4,847 units in June 2026, down from 7,921 units in June 2025. This translated to a steep 38.8% YoY decline.
The Mahindra 9S recorded 4,018 units in June 2026, giving it a 5.1% segment share. Its entry has further strengthened Mahindra’s position in the 7-seater space and helped the brand expand its presence across multiple price bands.
Maruti Suzuki XL6 sold 2,711 units, growing 34.8% YoY from 2,011 units in June 2025. The XL6 captured 3.4% segment share.
Toyota Rumion was among the fastest-growing models, with sales rising to 2,376 units from 1,415 units last year. It posted a strong 67.9% YoY growth and held 3.0% segment share.
Renault Triber also performed well with 1,871 units, up 31.7% YoY, while the Tata Safari grew 37.9% YoY to 1,271 units.
In the premium end of the market, the Toyota Fortuner sold 2,514 units, down 8.3% YoY, but remained the strongest performer in the ladder-frame premium SUV space.
Toyota Vellfire sold 140 units, while the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian recorded 106 units and 84 units, respectively.
VW Tayron sold 43 units, while the Kia Carnival ended the month with 30 units, down 36.2% YoY.

Conclusion
The 7-seater segment continued to show strong demand in June 2026, growing 16.6% YoY. While the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga retained its leadership position, Mahindra’s wide 7-seater SUV portfolio gave it a commanding presence in the segment.
The data also highlights a clear shift in buyer preference toward rugged and premium 7-seater SUVs, even as practical MPVs like the Ertiga, XL6, Rumion and Triber continue to attract family buyers looking for value and space.
With new entrants adding incremental volumes and established models maintaining strong demand, the 7-seater segment remains one of the most dynamic and competitive spaces in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
