Key Takeaways
The May 2026 scooter sales data clearly shows that the Indian scooter market is expanding strongly, with both conventional petrol scooters and electric scooters contributing to growth.
Honda Activa continues to dominate the segment by a wide margin. TVS strengthened its position with three models in the top 10 — Jupiter, iQube and Ntorq. Suzuki Access remained steady, while Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta reinforced the rising importance of electric scooters.
With EV scooters now accounting for a sizeable share of top-selling models, the scooter market is entering a more competitive phase where established ICE players and new-age EV brands are fighting for the same urban mobility customer. May 2026 was not just another strong month for scooters — it also showed how rapidly the segment is evolving.
