Auto Punditz Take
August 2026 was a positive month for India’s sedan market, but the headline growth masks a highly concentrated segment.
The Dzire remains dominant, with the Aura and Amaze bolstering the compact sedan segment. The Amaze’s 100% growth makes it a standout performer.
Midsize sedans face challenges, with the Virtus, Slavia, and Verna experiencing lower sales due to the shift towards SUVs.
The sedan market is divided into a high-volume compact segment led by Dzire, Aura, and Amaze and a smaller premium midsize segment.
