The Indian sedan segment posted a healthy year-on-year recovery in June 2026, with total dispatches of 31,183 units, compared to 28,335 units in June 2025. This translates to a 10.1% YoY growth, indicating that despite the rising dominance of SUVs, sedans continue to find steady demand in India.
The segment, however, remained highly concentrated, with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire alone accounting for 57.4% of total sedan sales in June 2026.

Dzire continued its undisputed leadership in the sedan category with 17,899 units sold in June 2026. Compared to 15,484 units in June 2025, Dzire recorded a 15.6% YoY growth. With a segment share of 57.4%, the Dzire sold more than the combined volumes of all other sedans in the list. Its strong appeal among private buyers as well as fleet operators continues to keep it far ahead of rivals.
Hyundai Aura ranked second with 5,977 units, growing 10.4% YoY from 5,413 units sold in June 2025. The Aura captured 19.2% segment share, making it the only sedan after Dzire to cross the 5,000-unit mark in June 2026.
Honda Amaze emerged as one of the key gainers in the segment. It sold 2,937 units in June 2026, up from 2,274 units in June 2025, registering a strong 29.2% YoY growth.
Among midsize sedans, the Volkswagen Virtus ranked fourth with 1,195 units, but its sales declined 32.8% YoY from 1,778 units in June 2025. Its segment share stood at 3.8%.
Skoda Slavia, on the other hand, posted positive growth. It sold 1,083 units, up from 896 units last year, registering 20.9% YoY growth. Slavia’s segment share stood at 3.5%.
The Honda City recorded 745 units in June 2026, compared to 709 units in June 2025. This resulted in a modest 5.1% YoY growth.
Tata Tigor sold 602 units in June 2026, down from 788 units in June 2025, registering a 23.6% YoY decline. Its segment share stood at 1.9%.
Hyundai Verna also witnessed a sharp drop, with sales falling to 554 units from 813 units last year. This marked a 31.9% YoY decline, giving Verna a segment share of 1.8% in June 2026.
Toyota Camry remained a niche premium sedan offering with 191 units sold in June 2026. It grew 6.1% YoY from 180 units in June 2025 and held a 0.6% share of the sedan segment.
