Price Requires Some Explanation

BGauss announced an introductory launch price of ₹1,45,990, making this the most expensive scooter in the company’s current range.

However, the BGauss website currently lists the scooter at:

  • Ex-showroom price including charger: ₹1,59,990

  • PM E-Drive incentive: ₹5,000

  • Effective ex-showroom price: ₹1,54,990

Customers should therefore confirm the applicability and duration of the ₹1.46 lakh introductory price with their nearest dealership before booking.

Battery, Range and Performance

The C12 MaxR uses a fixed 3.8kWh LFP battery paired with a side-mounted electric motor producing 4.2kW of peak power. BGauss claims a certified riding range of up to 178km per charge.

Three riding modes are available:

  • Eco: Top speed limited to 45km/h

  • Ride: Top speed of up to 60km/h

  • Sport: Unlocks the maximum 75km/h speed

The scooter can accelerate from zero to 40km/h in a claimed 5.3 seconds.

A 750W charger takes approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes to charge the battery from zero to 80 per cent, while a complete charge requires around 5 hours and 15 minutes.

Designed as a Practical Family Scooter

The C12 MaxR follows a conventional step-through scooter format with a wide floorboard, long seat and substantial pillion grab rail. Its distinctive front design incorporates a projector LED headlamp, while LED lighting is also used at the rear.

Practicality is one of its main selling points. BGauss claims 38 litres of total storage, supported by four smaller storage compartments and an illuminated boot area.

The scooter has a manageable 768mm seat height, while its 160mm ground clearance should be adequate for typical urban roads and speed breakers.

Features and Safety Equipment

The C12 MaxR receives a 5-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Major features include:

  • Eco, Ride and Sport modes

  • Reverse mode

  • Cruise mode

  • USB Type-C charging port

  • Multiple display themes

  • Turn-by-turn navigation

  • Parental Lock

  • SecureLock

  • SOS function

  • DigiLocker connectivity

  • Vehicle diagnostics

  • Side-stand motor cut-off

  • FallSense motor shut-off

  • Limp-home mode

  • Boot illumination

FallSense automatically cuts power to the motor if the scooter falls, while limp-home mode restricts performance to help the rider reach a charging point when the battery level is critically low.

Chassis and Brakes

The electric scooter rides on 12-inch tubeless wheels. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a five-step preload-adjustable offset unit at the rear.

Braking hardware consists of a front disc and rear drum brake. The C12 MaxR does not receive ABS.

Colour Options

The new electric scooter is offered in four finishes:

  • Sparkling Wine with Champagne Gold

  • Terra Green with Champagne Gold

  • Satin Black

  • Pearl White

Auto Punditz Take

The 178km certified range and 38-litre storage capacity are the C12 MaxR’s most important differentiators. These specifications make it suitable for buyers seeking a practical electric scooter for commuting as well as regular family use.

At ₹1.46 lakh, however, it enters a highly competitive space occupied by established products from Ather, Bajaj, TVS and Vida. Its real-world range, charging experience, service availability and final transaction price will determine whether the C12 MaxR can justify its premium positioning.

BGauss says it has a network of more than 200 dealerships, which should help the company reach buyers beyond the largest metropolitan markets. Official specifications Launch report
