BYD’s Denza Finalises India Dealer Network Ahead of Launch; Landmark, EVM, KUN Among Key Partners
BYD is moving closer to launching its luxury EV brand Denza in India, with the automaker reportedly finalising its first set of dealer partners across major metropolitan markets.
The development is a significant step in Denza’s India rollout, as BYD prepares to position the marque distinctly above its existing mass-premium electric vehicle portfolio. Denza is expected to operate through a separate, premium-focused retail network, even though several of the selected dealer groups are already associated with BYD in India.

Denza Dealer Network Takes Shape
According to information reported by ETAuto, Denza has selected established automotive retail groups for some of India’s largest luxury-car markets.
The initial dealer allocation is understood to include:
Mumbai – Landmark Group
Bengaluru and Hyderabad – EVM
Chennai – KUN
Gujarat, including Ahmedabad – Cargo Motors
Delhi NCR and Chandigarh – Krishna Automobiles of the Passi Group
All these groups currently have associations with BYD's Indian retail operations, which should give Denza access to partners already familiar with the company, its EV technology and premium customers. However, Denza outlets are expected to operate independently from conventional BYD dealerships. The relatively concentrated network also suggests that Denza will initially focus on cities where demand for premium and luxury vehicles is strongest rather than pursue a rapid nationwide dealership expansion.
Denza D9 Likely to Lead India Entry
The Denza D9 luxury MPV is widely expected to be one of the first products introduced under the new brand in India. The D9 targets the premium people-mover market and could compete with models such as the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM and MG M9. ETAuto reports that the D9 could arrive around the festive period, although BYD India has yet to formally announce the launch schedule.
The luxury MPV comes with features such as electrically adjustable second-row captain seats, massage functionality, powered leg rests, panoramic sunroof, premium audio, multi-zone climate control and advanced driver-assistance systems. The Indian luxury MPV segment remains relatively niche, but demand has been expanding. Toyota sold nearly 1,500 Vellfires during FY2026, representing growth of 56 percent, while the arrival of products such as the all-electric MG M9 has added another dimension to the segment. Denza could therefore enter India at a time when wealthy buyers are increasingly open to alternatives beyond conventional luxury sedans and SUVs.
Denza Z9 GT Could Bring Performance EV Focus
The D9 may not be Denza's only major India-bound product. Reports indicate that the Denza Z9 GT is also planned for the Indian market. It is reported that Denza intends to bring both the D9 and Z9 GT to India by the end of 2026, with the vehicles initially imported as completely built units.
The Z9 GT represents a very different side of the Denza brand. Its fully electric version uses a three-motor powertrain, and international specifications include outputs exceeding 1,000hp, giving Denza a halo performance product capable of competing for attention in the high-end EV market. Together, the D9 and Z9 GT would allow Denza to attack two relatively distinct areas of India's luxury market — chauffeured luxury mobility and high-performance electric cars.
Denza to Sit Above BYD in India
BYD currently sells models including the Atto 3, eMax 7, Seal and Sealion 7 in India, with its electric-car portfolio currently extending from roughly ₹25 lakh to ₹55 lakh.
Denza is expected to occupy the next layer of the market. BYD intends to position Denza at approximately ₹80 lakh and above, while the mainstream BYD brand will broadly address the ₹20 lakh-₹80 lakh space.
That separation will be important. Rather than simply introducing a more expensive BYD, the company appears to be building Denza as an independent luxury proposition with dedicated showrooms, specialised customer experience and its own brand identity.
From BYD-Mercedes Joint Venture to BYD Luxury Brand
Denza's history also differentiates it from many newer Chinese premium EV brands.
The company was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz at the time.
Mercedes-Benz subsequently exited the partnership, and BYD became the sole owner of Denza. The company has since repositioned Denza as one of its premium automotive brands, offering both electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles internationally. Its arrival in India would therefore mark an expansion of BYD's strategy from competing primarily in the mainstream premium EV segment to challenging established luxury manufacturers.
Why the Dealer Network Matters
Launching an unfamiliar luxury automotive badge in India presents a different challenge from selling a technology-led mainstream EV. Premium buyers typically expect a higher standard of dealership ambience, product demonstration, vehicle delivery and after-sales support. That makes the selection of established dealer partners especially important for Denza.
Choosing groups already operating in cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi NCR and Chandigarh gives Denza access to several of India's largest premium-car markets from the beginning. It also allows BYD to utilise existing relationships while maintaining separate customer-facing identities for BYD and Denza.
Auto Punditz Take
Denza's dealer appointments indicate that BYD's luxury-brand entry into India is moving beyond product evaluation and into the commercial execution stage. The strategy appears deliberately focused rather than volume-driven: establish dedicated representation in India's strongest luxury-car markets, introduce high-value imported products and build the Denza brand independently from BYD.
The D9 should give Denza an entry point into India's emerging luxury electric MPV market, while the Z9 GT could work as a technology and performance showcase for the brand.
The bigger development, however, is BYD's move up the automotive value chain.
If Denza launches as expected, BYD will effectively operate across two distinct market positions in India — BYD for mainstream premium EVs and Denza for luxury electric mobility. That could make the group's India strategy considerably broader heading into 2027.
