Tata Nexon EV is creating a newer sales benchmark every passing month and it recorded its lifetime highest monthly volume in June 2021. Tata Motors sold 650 units of the Nexon EV in the Indian market last month. Nexon EV also helped Tata post the highest ever quarterly EV sales of 1,715 units.
Since its launch back in January 2020, Tata has sold over 5,500 units of the electric Nexon and is the most popular EV in our country currently.
Tata Motors Nexon EV sales increased by over 33 percent in June 2021 when compared to May 2021. It was able to increase its market share in the segment and alone contributed to over 70 percent volumes in the segment! Nexon EV is powered by a single electric motor, rated at 129 PS and 245 Nm, which draws power from a 30.2 kWh battery pack. The vehicle delivers an ARAI-tested driving range of 312 km.
Nexon EV contributed over 8 percent on Nexon model volumes in June 2021 - i.e. 650 out of 8,033 Nexon's sold were the EV variants. The electric compact SUV has seen rapid consumer acceptance and boasts of a value-for-money price tag!
MG ZS EV had recorded its all-time highest monthly sales in March 2021 (source). However; the volumes almost halved in April 2021 and May 2021. However; it has bounced back strongly in June 2021 and recorded the highest MoM jump last month. It also garnered a Market Share of 27.3 percent in June 2021.
Hyundai Kona's sales have fallen much lower when compared to the rival MG's ZS EV. It could sell a meager 7 units in June 2021. Hyundai Kona EV's electric motor delivers 136 PS and 350 Nm.
Do note that Tata’s Nexon is priced the lowest among E-SUVs and ranges from ₹13.99 lakh to ₹16.56 lakh in the Indian market. MG ZS price ranges from ₹20.99 lakh to ₹24.18 lakh, while the Kona EV is priced from ₹23.77 lakh to ₹23.96 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom, New Delhi).
