Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) dispatched 39,635 passenger vehicles in the domestic market during June 2026, registering a 10% year-on-year (YoY) decline compared to 44,024 units in June 2025. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, dispatches fell 17% from 47,837 units recorded in May 2026.
However, the decline in wholesale dispatches does not entirely reflect market demand. Hyundai's June production was significantly impacted following a fire at Mobis India Limited, one of its key suppliers, on May 31, 2026. The incident temporarily disrupted the supply of audio systems and other automotive components, primarily affecting Chennai Plant 1. Hyundai had earlier informed stock exchanges that it was arranging alternate sourcing while assuring that dealer inventory would help meet customer demand. The company also stated that production would normalize by June 22Â and that most lost production would be recovered during the following quarter.
Commenting on the monthly performance, Hyundai revealed that the supplier disruption resulted in a production loss of approximately 13,900 units during June, making the decline largely supply-driven rather than demand-led.

Venue became Hyundai's highest-dispatched model in June with 10,776 units, registering an impressive 57% YoY growth despite an 8% sequential decline. The compact SUV continues to be one of Hyundai's strongest volume drivers, benefiting from sustained demand in India's highly competitive sub-four-metre SUV segment.
Exter remained another bright spot in Hyundai's portfolio, recording 8,154 units, up 39% YoY and 24% over May 2026.
The biggest surprise came from the Creta, which dispatched 7,168 units, down 55% YoYÂ and 53% MoM. While the numbers appear sharp, they should be viewed in the context of Hyundai's production disruption. Since the supplier fire primarily affected component availability at Chennai Plant 1, dispatches of several high-volume models, including the Creta, were impacted during June. Hyundai has already indicated that lost production will largely be recovered in the current quarter.
Aura recorded 5,977 units, growing 10% YoY and 18% MoM.
Grand i10Â posted 4,865 units, increasing 15% YoYÂ and a strong 67% over May, making it one of the month's strongest performers.

Auto Punditz Analysis
June 2026 was an exceptional month for Hyundai, with wholesale dispatches being influenced more by temporary supply-chain disruption than underlying market demand.
The fire at Mobis India's manufacturing facility disrupted the supply of critical automotive components, leading Hyundai to lose nearly 13,900 units of production during the month. Even so, the company maintained that retail sales remained largely unaffected due to sufficient dealer inventory and has already restored normal production from June 22, with lost volumes expected to be recovered during the current quarter.
From a product perspective, the Venue and Exter emerged as Hyundai's growth engines, while Aura and Grand i10 also delivered healthy gains. The sharp decline in Creta dispatches should therefore be interpreted in the context of temporary production constraints rather than weakening consumer demand.
With production back on track and inventory replenishment underway, Hyundai is well-positioned to recover lost dispatches during the upcoming festive season.
