Maruti Suzuki Car Sales - May 2026

Maruti Suzuki achieved its highest-ever monthly sales in May 2026, registering a total volume of 2,42,688 units, includes domestic + exports combined. It recorded domestic dispatches of 1,93,535 units and 41,914 units in exports. Domestic passenger vehicle sales jumped by 40% year-on-year, compared to 1,35,962 units in May 2025. This translates to a robust 40% year-on-year growth, highlighting the brand’s continued dominance in the Indian car market.

On a month-on-month basis, Maruti Suzuki’s sales remained largely stable, growing by 1% over April 2026, when the company had dispatched 1,87,704 units. While the YoY growth looks exceptionally strong due to a lower base in May 2025, the MoM trend suggests that Maruti maintained its high-volume momentum even after a strong April.

Auto Punditz Take

Maruti Suzuki’s May 2026 performance reflects a well-balanced portfolio strategy. The brand is no longer dependent only on hatchbacks. Its sales are now being supported by sedans, MPVs, compact crossovers and midsize SUVs.

The biggest positive is that Maruti had six models above 17,000 units and three models above 20,000 units. This depth gives the company a major advantage in the Indian market. While the 40% YoY growth is impressive, the 1% MoM growth shows that May 2026 was more about sustaining momentum than a fresh breakout. The real story is the broad-based performance across Dzire, Fronx, Ertiga, Baleno, Wagon R and Swift.

For Maruti Suzuki, May 2026 was a month where traditional strengths and newer SUV-focused bets worked together — helping the company remain comfortably ahead in India’s passenger vehicle market.
