Mahindra is preparing to take its rugged SUV credentials deeper into the global lifestyle pickup market. The company has teased its upcoming Scorpio-N-based Pik Up, with its global debut scheduled for August 14, 2026.
The upcoming model is expected to be the production evolution of the Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept, which was originally showcased as an international lifestyle pickup. Mahindra itself describes the Global Pik Up concept as an “authentic lifestyle pickup” designed for global markets.
The latest teaser suggests that the production model will move considerably upmarket compared with Mahindra's existing utility-focused pickup range, combining Scorpio-N underpinnings with a more premium cabin, four-wheel-drive capability and a distinctive double-cab pickup body.

Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up – What The New Teaser Reveals
The latest teaser provides several glimpses of the upcoming pickup's exterior as well as its cabin.
Key elements visible or indicated include:
Scorpio-N-inspired front-end styling
Double-cab pickup body
Large rear load bed
Vertically arranged LED tail lamps
Prominent MAHINDRA lettering across the tailgate
New alloy-wheel design
Redesigned dashboard
Large vertically positioned infotainment touchscreen
Digital instrument cluster
New multifunction steering wheel
Premiumised cabin compared with Mahindra's existing pickups
The overall treatment suggests Mahindra is targeting the lifestyle-pickup category rather than positioning the new vehicle merely as a commercial load carrier.
Panoramic Sunroof Could Be A Major Highlight
One of the more interesting features being reported for the new Pik Up is a panoramic sunroof.
Mahindra recently significantly upgraded the Scorpio-N itself, with higher variants of the 2026 model receiving features including a panoramic sunroof, larger infotainment screen and upgraded digital instrumentation.
It therefore wouldn't be surprising to see some of these premium features migrate to the pickup.
However, the final equipment list should become clearer when Mahindra formally unveils the vehicle on August 14.
Based On The Scorpio-N Family
The new Pik Up is closely related to the Scorpio-N and is expected to use a body-on-frame architecture suited to heavy-duty and off-road applications.
This should give Mahindra an important advantage in developing the pickup because much of the basic SUV engineering – including its diesel powertrain, four-wheel-drive technology and ladder-frame expertise – already exists within the company.
Mahindra's original Global Pik Up concept was positioned specifically as a vehicle capable of combining everyday usability with serious off-road and adventure credentials.
2.2-Litre Diesel Likely
A production specification has not yet been formally detailed by Mahindra.
However, the Scorpio-N family already uses Mahindra's 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, making it the logical powertrain candidate for the pickup.
Both manual and automatic transmission options could eventually be offered, while a proper 4WD system is expected to form an important part of the vehicle's positioning.
Some reports have suggested outputs in the region of the Scorpio-N's existing diesel specification, although final figures should be considered unconfirmed until Mahindra releases the production technical specifications.
A Proper Lifestyle Pickup Rather Than A Workhorse
This distinction could prove important.
Mahindra already has considerable expertise in pickups and commercial utility vehicles through products such as the Bolero Pik-Up and Scorpio Pik Up.
The company celebrated 25 years of the Bolero Pik-Up range in 2024, underlining just how long it has operated in India's pickup market.
The upcoming Scorpio-N Pik Up, however, appears to be targeting a very different customer.
Instead of primarily focusing on payload and commercial usage, the new model is expected to target:
Lifestyle buyers
Adventure enthusiasts
Off-road users
Premium pickup customers
International markets where double-cab pickups are mainstream vehicles
That puts it conceptually much closer to vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max/V-Cross.
Mahindra Has Serious Global Pickup Ambitions
The timing of the new model is particularly noteworthy considering Mahindra's growing international pickup business.
Earlier in 2026, Mahindra announced its largest-ever export order, involving 35,000 single-cab Scorpio Pik Ups for Indonesia.
Mahindra said those vehicles would be manufactured at its Nashik plant and highlighted the Scorpio Pik Up's durability, payload capacity and low operating costs.
That order alone exceeds Mahindra's total exports recorded during FY2025, demonstrating the potential importance of pickups to the company's international expansion.
The upcoming double-cab lifestyle model could help Mahindra attack a completely different and potentially more premium section of the global pickup market.
Toyota Hilux Could Be The Key Benchmark
From an Indian perspective, the obvious comparison will be with the Toyota Hilux.
The Hilux currently represents the premium lifestyle-pickup category in India along with the Isuzu V-Cross.
Mahindra could potentially differentiate itself through a combination of:
More aggressive pricing: Local production and platform commonality with the Scorpio-N could potentially allow Mahindra to price the vehicle more competitively.
Higher equipment levels: Features such as a panoramic sunroof, large touchscreen and digital instrument cluster could make it considerably more SUV-like inside.
Strong domestic brand recognition: The Scorpio name already carries significant recognition among Indian SUV buyers.
4WD capability: Mahindra's experience with rugged body-on-frame SUVs could become an important selling point.
Pricing, however, will ultimately determine whether the pickup remains a niche halo model or expands the lifestyle-pickup segment in India.
India Launch Still Needs Confirmation
The August 14 event should reveal considerably more information regarding Mahindra's production and market plans.
While several automotive portals list the Scorpio-N Pickup as an upcoming Indian model, Mahindra has not yet published a complete India-specific launch, pricing and variant announcement for the new vehicle.
Therefore, its August 14 appearance should currently be treated as a global reveal rather than a confirmed Indian commercial launch.
An eventual Indian introduction nevertheless appears strategically logical, particularly as Mahindra continues expanding its premium SUV portfolio.
What To Expect On August 14
The global unveiling should answer several important questions:
Final production design
Official model name
Engine specifications
Manual and automatic gearbox availability
4WD hardware
Dimensions and wheelbase
Payload capacity
Infotainment and connected-car technology
ADAS availability
Panoramic sunroof availability
Global market rollout
India launch timeline
Mahindra may also disclose where the vehicle will be manufactured and which export markets will receive it first.
Auto Punditz Take
The Scorpio-N Pik Up could be one of Mahindra's most strategically interesting launches in recent years.
India's lifestyle-pickup market remains extremely small compared with markets such as Australia, South Africa and Southeast Asia. That makes the international opportunity arguably more important than the domestic one.
Mahindra already possesses three important ingredients: body-on-frame SUV engineering, extensive pickup experience and a growing international footprint.
Its record 35,000-unit Scorpio Pik Up export order for Indonesia also demonstrates that the Scorpio name can extend beyond passenger SUVs into substantial international utility-vehicle volumes.
What makes the new model particularly interesting is the apparent shift from a functional workhorse to a premium lifestyle pickup.
If Mahindra can combine Scorpio-N levels of equipment and comfort with genuine 4WD capability while substantially undercutting established international pickups, the Global Pik Up could become much more than another Scorpio derivative.
August 14 will therefore be worth watching not only for the vehicle itself, but for Mahindra's wider global ambitions.
