Range Rover Electric Bookings Open in India: 600 km Range, 405 kW and 350 kW Charging

Range Rover has opened Indian order books for its first fully electric flagship SUV. The new Range Rover Electric brings battery-powered propulsion to the brand’s familiar luxury-SUV formula without substantially changing its design, off-road ability or cabin positioning.
Powered by two permanent-magnet electric motors, the Range Rover Electric produces a combined 405 kW—equivalent to approximately 550 PS—and 850 Nm. It offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 600 km and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds.
Range Rover Electric prices for India have not yet been disclosed.

118.5 kWh Battery and Up to 600 km Range
At the heart of the Range Rover Electric is a double-stacked, 118.5 kWh usable lithium-ion battery comprising 344 prismatic cells. The battery uses an 800-volt electrical architecture designed to support high charging speeds while managing the packaging requirements of a large luxury SUV.
Range Rover claims a maximum WLTP range of 600 km, while its estimated real-world figure stands at up to 535 km. The exact range will vary with the version, weather, driving conditions, speed and use of climate-control systems.
The standard-wheelbase model has a WLTP high-energy combined figure of 578 km, while the corresponding figure for the long-wheelbase version is 574 km.
Range Rover Electric Charging Time
When connected to a compatible 350 kW DC charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes. Range Rover also claims that up to 220 km of WLTP range can be added in 10 minutes under optimal 800-volt charging conditions.
On a 400-volt charger operating at a peak of 250 kW, the SUV can add approximately 158 km of WLTP range in 10 minutes.
A 22 kW onboard AC charger is standard. Under suitable three-phase charging conditions, it can add approximately 96 km of range in one hour.
Dual-Motor AWD With 850 Nm
The electric drivetrain employs one 260 kW permanent-magnet motor on each axle. However, total system output is electronically limited to 405 kW, accompanied by 850 Nm of peak torque.
Range Rover says the motors use silicon-carbide semiconductors to improve switching efficiency and performance. The standard-wheelbase version can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and complete the 80-120 km/h run in 2.7 seconds.
The longer version takes 4.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h and 2.9 seconds for the 80-120 km/h sprint. Both have a claimed top speed of 200 km/h.
Electric Traction Management Developed for Off-Road Use
Rather than positioning the model purely as an urban luxury EV, Range Rover has attempted to preserve the all-terrain ability associated with its flagship SUV.
Its Integrated Traction Management system can regulate motor speed within 50 milliseconds. According to the manufacturer, this allows the system to manage wheel slip up to 100 times faster than an equivalent combustion-powered drivetrain.
Intelligent Driveline Dynamics can vary the torque sent to the rear axle from 100% to zero depending on traction requirements.
A dedicated single-pedal driving mode has also been calibrated for off-road conditions. It allows the SUV to pull away on gradients of up to 33 degrees and complete rolling climbs on slopes of up to 45 degrees.
The Range Rover Electric retains a maximum water-wading depth of 900 mm. In off-road height, it offers approach and departure angles of 33.2 degrees and 28.1 degrees, respectively.
The standard-wheelbase version is also rated to tow up to 2,500 kg.
Familiar Range Rover Design With EV-Specific Changes
Range Rover has deliberately avoided giving its first electric model an overly distinctive EV appearance. Its exterior continues with the clean surfaces, upright proportions and minimalist detailing of the current-generation flagship.
Changes are largely functional and include aerodynamically optimised wheels, a tailored underbody and, depending on the market, an aero-optimised front grille. The claimed drag coefficient is 0.29.
The standard-wheelbase SUV measures 5,052 mm long and has a 2,997 mm wheelbase. The long-wheelbase version is 5,252 mm long, with the wheelbase extended to 3,197 mm.
Both versions measure 2,047 mm wide with the mirrors folded and offer 925 litres of luggage capacity behind the second row.
New Range Rover App and Battery Monitoring
Owners will be able to remotely access several vehicle functions through the new Range Rover app. These include checking the battery level, predicted driving range, live vehicle location and lock status.
The app can also activate functions such as cabin purification and steering-wheel heating before the occupants enter the vehicle.
Each Range Rover Electric gets a Battery Digital Twin that monitors more than 900 diagnostic data points. Combined with over-the-air software functionality, the system is intended to identify maintenance requirements and monitor battery health proactively.
The electric propulsion system will be covered by an eight-year or 1,60,000 km warranty, although exact terms may vary by market.
ThermAssist Technology Improves Cold-Weather Efficiency
The SUV introduces Range Rover’s ThermAssist heat-management technology. It is designed to optimise battery temperature, cabin heating, charging performance and battery longevity in extreme conditions.
The company claims ThermAssist can reduce the energy required for heating by up to 40% and potentially add as much as 40 km of driving range under relevant conditions.
Range Rover has filed more than 300 patent applications relating to the electric SUV, making it potentially the most patented model in the brand’s history.
Extensive Global Testing
The Range Rover Electric has completed more than 1.5 million kilometres of physical testing—equivalent to travelling around the world approximately 38 times—along with over 250,000 hours of virtual testing.
Development programmes covered temperatures ranging from minus 40 degrees Celsius in Sweden to desert conditions in Dubai. Testing also included low-grip surfaces, difficult off-road terrain and high-speed road driving.
Battery packs were subjected to multi-axis vibration, shock and temperature testing between minus 40 and 90 degrees Celsius.

Customers will also be able to use the Range Rover Bespoke service for personalised paint finishes, materials, colour combinations and embroidery.
Manufactured at Solihull
The Range Rover Electric will be manufactured at JLR’s Solihull facility in the United Kingdom, alongside combustion-engine, mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid versions based on the same flexible architecture.
JLR has trained approximately 9,000 employees at Solihull for electrified-vehicle production. Its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton will manufacture the battery packs and electric drive units.
Auto Punditz Take
The Range Rover Electric represents a carefully controlled transition rather than a radical reinvention. Its understated design should appeal to existing Range Rover customers, while the 118.5 kWh battery, 600 km claimed range and 350 kW charging capability place it among the more technically ambitious luxury electric SUVs.
More importantly, Range Rover has focused on areas where premium EVs often make compromises: sustained off-road control, water-wading capability, towing capacity and long-distance usability.
Its positioning in India will ultimately depend on pricing. With Autobiography and highly exclusive SV versions forming the initial range, the electric model is likely to sit near the top of India’s luxury-EV market. It could appeal to buyers who want the comfort and road presence of a traditional Range Rover but are ready to move away from petrol or diesel propulsion.
