Renault India is preparing to give its most affordable offering, the Kwid, a timely refresh. The updated Renault Kwid facelift is expected to be launched in India on July 3, 2026, bringing cosmetic upgrades, feature additions and a more modern cabin layout to the entry-level hatchback.
While Renault India has not officially published the launch release yet, multiple industry reports indicate that the facelifted Kwid will receive a visible design update rather than a full-generation change. The hatchback is expected to continue with its familiar SUV-inspired stance, which has been one of its strongest selling points in the budget car segment.

What’s New In The Renault Kwid Facelift?
The upcoming Kwid facelift is likely to feature a redesigned front fascia with updated grille detailing, revised bumpers and new lighting elements. Spy shots suggest Y-shaped lighting signatures and a fresher front-end treatment, helping the Kwid look more in line with Renault’s newer global design language.
At the rear, the hatchback is expected to get redesigned tail-lamps and bumper tweaks. The overall silhouette is likely to remain unchanged, which means the Kwid will continue with its compact city-friendly footprint and SUV-like styling cues.
Interior & Feature Updates
The biggest update could come inside the cabin. The Renault Kwid facelift is expected to receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system, possibly a 10-inch unit, along with a digital instrument cluster. This would make the Kwid more appealing to first-time car buyers who increasingly expect connected, screen-heavy cabins even in affordable cars.
Other expected features include smartphone connectivity, steering-mounted controls, power windows, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and other mandatory safety equipment. Renault may also revise upholstery, dashboard trims and colour themes to make the cabin feel fresher.
Engine & Transmission
Mechanically, the Kwid facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This motor produces around 68 hp and is likely to be offered with both 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.
A CNG option has not been officially confirmed yet. Given the price-sensitive nature of the segment, Renault may focus on keeping acquisition cost low while improving design and features.
Why This Update Matters
The entry-level hatchback segment in India has shrunk over the years, with buyers increasingly moving towards compact SUVs and premium hatchbacks. However, cars like the Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Celerio continue to serve an important role for first-time buyers, small families and urban users looking for affordable mobility.
For Renault, the Kwid remains an important nameplate. It helped the brand gain strong recognition in India with its SUV-like design, high ground clearance and aggressive pricing. The facelift gives Renault an opportunity to refresh interest in the model at a time when the company is also preparing a larger product offensive in India.
Expected Price & Rivals
The Renault Kwid facelift is expected to be priced around the ₹4.8 lakh to ₹5.5 lakh range, ex-showroom, though official prices will be announced at launch. It will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, S-Presso and Celerio, while also appealing to buyers considering used compact hatchbacks.
Auto Punditz Take
The Renault Kwid facelift may not be a major mechanical upgrade, but it comes at an important time for Renault India. With the brand strengthening its future product pipeline, the updated Kwid can help keep showroom footfalls alive in the entry-level space.
A sharper design, bigger infotainment screen and refreshed cabin could make the Kwid more relevant for young buyers and first-time car owners. However, pricing will be critical. If Renault manages to keep the facelift competitively priced, the Kwid could continue to be one of the most stylish and practical budget hatchbacks in India.
